Try it now. The web has been going through a security series of moves, and some IP's were blocking non secure sites (those not certified safe) so I have not moved everything onto a secure server (at least hopefully all). The old should bounce there automatically, but here is the page on the new system:  https://www.widman.biz/Mini/English/progress/m54.html

And just in case, they are on this page: //www.widman.biz/Mini/English/progress/m54.html
I can't see them either. I took the url link to one of the images out of the html and tried to navigate to it directly. I've found that your website returns this error message on my instance of the Chrome browser:

NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID

This is likely why some of us can't see the pictures. We can't connect to your webpage, but being embedded into a webpage we can reach, the errors from the unreachable links are supressed.

Richard: the images of the oil pressures don't show up here.

I was investigating that change, as I have 50,000 filters in stock (including one for the automatic Mini, but without the right sized gasket).

Once I got to pressures, I stopped. There is no way a standard spin-on filter can handle the oil pressures of the auto box.

Good idea... I remember seeing this article before, just went back and re-read it and I think it would be worth doing since I have the motor out.

After sitting for many years I doubt the forward speed clutch material will stand up to much use. However, this is easily fixed.

Have a look at Todd’s Austin America site and read up on his forward speed clutch mods, and consider doing this to your car.

good luck

Thanks, I just acquired this car and with the help of many friends have been slowly putting it back together. The original automatic was removed and replaced with an 850cc motor, but I want to go back to the original 1000cc automatic, that ran when it was pulled. Since sitting many years, the car has been repainted, and is a rolling shell than never got put back together. This is a challenge to get another Mini back on the road after sitting for so long!

I think BOBB made an adapter for a friend of ours years ago, and it was verisimilar to the one I have seen available in Japan.

We did not use it, as the project changed directions.

My own late Automatic spi still uses the old filter, and it is easily sourced by my industrial, trucking and heavy duty parts supplier or our host.

Yes a board member here (Yowza ?) had one done in Japan with Toyota parts.. The thoughts were that it should not be possible as reverse gear generates 100 plus pounds of oil pressure.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Has anyone converted a cartridge type oil filter for a mini automatic transmission to a spin-on filter. And, thanks for not laughing....
This is for a 1977 mini sedan with automatic transmission!
