At which point she goes into a kind of limp mode, on the heads up is a half filled engine image. Stop and shut her down and she will start right back up and run fine. I've replaced all 4 coils as we had a misfire code along with a thermostat code. Will be swapping thermostat this weekend if weather permits. I'm wondering if the tstat is not letting coolant to the turbo water pump and its getting too hot? Or is it building too much boost pressure or the sensor failing and not throwing a code? This is perplexing to me, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I would recommend proceeding with the t-stat housing replacement and see if this corrects the problem.

First ... Welcome! Always good to meet another enthusiast.
But, almost all of the frequent users on this Forum are classic Mini people, 1959-2000. I once owned a 2010 Clubman. Mine had problems and I moved on. Our host and a couple of others will answer queries about the BMW MINI, but you'll find more "experts" on NAM, North American Motoring ...
Hoping you find a solution ...
