Worse we see around here (bit north of seattle) is just a few below zero C.  Coldest I've seen is 6F, not sure on the conversion but I'd guess like -15C???  I think -5C is about 25F.  I haven't had issues with the Kawell brand light bars I've bought on Amazon.  Got them on the riding mower, RSX, and had them on a scooter too.  Never had issues.  Would have bought them for the Mini if they had a style to match the classic look.  But I think the do have a wide bar for a truck.

Ya, those 4.5" ones you installed look pretty sharp thats for sure. I would like to keep the chrome back on the LED lights, basically just out the innerds so to speak. Interesting mounting brackets. Good call as well on floods vs spots. I think I will probably go with something in between, driving ought to do the trick, I'll have to take a look at Rigids literature if I choose to go that route. I've always wanted a lightbar for the truck from rigid, but $700 plus is a hard pill to swallow, specially when $300 gets the job done at probably 90-95% of the quality of the rigid lights.

Minus 22 deg C this morning. Its April 5th. I guess the one good thing is that there is next to no salt water kicking around on the streets anymore - its froze now.

I used the Harley Davidson 4.5" Daymaker LED lights as my flood lights.  Made custom brakets to fit the stock mounting holes.  They work great for me and more importantly I think they fit the look of a Mini.  They don't look out of place to me.  Only "issue" is that they are smaller than proper spot/flood lights diameter wise, so that looks off if you are used to proper lights.  See my thread for a little more info on what I did.

I presume you are referring to auxiliary lamps on a classic Mini. Of the 4 types of light pattern you list, your choice should be based on what you want the lights to do. Generally speaking, "flood" would provide wide-angle illumination, probably ditch to ditch but not project usefully any great distance, whereas "spot" would give a narrow, longer distance illumination that would pick up signs or objects in your path (except at corners!). I expect "hyper-spots" would be better to see objects directly in front of the car at a much greater distance, but only if they fall within the narrow beam. "Driving" would be an all-purpose illumination between "flood" and "spot".
In my opinion, if you usually drive long, straight roads, probably "spots" would be OK, but would be useless on curvy roads. If you usually drive curvy roads you want to see more of what's along the sides of the road, especially at curves. I think "driving" would be best.

Dig into the manufacturers' literature - they should provide diagrams or images of the respective illumination pattern, which would help you decide. If they don't provide the data, move on to another brand.

So, I’m looking to replace some of the classic round spotlights above the front bumper. Has anyone replaced these with LEDs before? I’m considering the rigid R-46 style, but there are so many options. Flood, spot, hyperspot, driving etc. And they are not exactly cheap either, so I don’t want to F this up. Thoughts?
