The clip was out of the groove. With a little work I got it back in place and the axle slipped in place. Not having removed one of these axles before I didn't know how much force was required to slip it back in.
Thanks again

I assume you're trying to insert the axle into the outer CV joint..... ????
If so, the little spring clip sometimes gets damaged/out of shape and hangs up on the edge of its groove. Try to squeeze it (mostly) into the groove with some needle nose pliers and carefully push the splines into the CV. A tiny ring clamp (as used for piston ring installation) would be ideal....
Cheers, Ian
PS same deal if you're trying to install an inner CV (pot joint) into the diff.....

Looking for advice on how to install right side axle. I have replaced the seal now how to replace the axle. Looks like it should just push in and the spring clip holds it but I'm having a problem getting it to push in. Any advise or technique?
Thanks
