Plus the "Don't Panic" screen on the display—another homage to "Hitchhiker's." Perfect. I heard an analyst on NPR today talking about Musk's plan to colonize Mars with 1 million people by 2025. When the host asked him why, he compared it to having all of your family photos on one hard drive; of course you'd want to back it up. He said all of mankind is currently on one planet. Best we back ourselves up on another planet just in case. Why 1 million? He said 1 million is the critical mass necessary that if and when Earth is no longer viable and no further ships would be arriving to supply the Mars colony, 1 million people would most likely be able to be self-sustaining.

The Mars colony is Musk's ultimate goal. The whole Space-X thing is just a way of paying the bills in the meantime. Makes sense. Cool.

It also has a copy of "hitchhikers guide to the galaxy" in the glove box and a miniature "hot wheels" tesla with a mini star man in it.  Watch the animation of the launch from 2 years ago that Musk posted.  The one farthest from the camera hits like 1-2 seconds after the close one.  Almost a 1:1 match.

I grew up watching the shuttle launches and even saw one in person, but never thought I'd see a guy with a private company launch a rocket like that, let alone land the boosters.  He's talking the goal is to get 24 hr turnaround on the falcon 9s.  Up, delivers, lands, refurbish, 24 hrs later it goes back up.

Only if someone left the turn signal on... I had the mental image of the left turn signal flashing all the way past Mars.

brilliant bit of work - that double landing was just incredible. The tesla playing bowie just raises goose bumps too!
