You'll find some old-timers on this site have been putting down the Vtec/mini for years. I'd love to know where they got their facts, when it comes to re-sale values. Put 20k miles on my Vtec since I've owned it . Basically use it as a daily driver in the summer.

Not having any direct experience or even knowing anyone with a Vtech-Mini, spending any time on this forum one would be lead to believe no one has successfully build and driven one. Nice to hear from someone who's satisfied with their conversion.

I've had my D-series since 2008. I have driven 27,000 miles and I DON'T tow or trailer it to the mini meets.  Mine is set up w/10's and there is no compromise in handling.  I have no plan on selling it.  I suppose there are people out there who attempt to build a VTEC kit and maybe give up six months later...   I don't know any of these guys.

I've had a lot of requests and done quiet a few over the years. For me it's different, after doing my first one 9 years ago (Honda B18 w/ Minitec kit), I was ruined. But everyone has different wants/needs. My clubman estate had a fantastic little 1098 first 3 years of ownership. I eventually got bored of it and threw a MR2 supercharger on it. Was fun for a bit, but I got the itch for Honda power again shortly after. With low offset wheels, good suspension setup, rocking the 10's on the last Honda D-Series conversion it was fantastic. Virtually no torque steer, same great handling, really no weight penalty... So my .02 is after doing several B-series converted Minis, a couple Suzuki G10 minis, and a few D-series, is the D is the way to go. Can be plenty mild, or as wild power wise as you want. Look at the last one I just did, 164whp on 10's, no flares. Cost is another issue. If you can DIY, it would be cheaper than a new replacement hot motor stateside, except you end up with a 5 speed, fuel injection, good oem gear selection, and a motor that is used to carrying more weight around with more power out of the box.

Mini Mover. quite right about them selling for 50% off in six months..   fyi  I think BJ and Norm .. BP old partners  at Superfastminis.com get $22k for the conversion  PLUS you have to supply a mini.. STUPIC money.. in my black book.. later bc

Derwood, thank you for your two cents, funny you should mention money, albeit it coin in the same subject as a v-tech or 8 port &/or any exotic mini conversion

As a friend l have never asked Don aka Bluebox what $$$ amount he has in his mini, north of $30k l would assume

Of course his good friend & former boss Tony aka notabmw, has north of $40k in his Hilda, a stock mini 2dr saloon but gorgeous

Must be something in the water in St Catharines Ontario

And then of course is the v-tech golden rule, do the conversion, keep it six months and sell it on for 50% of your invested dollar

It seems that many people who do V-Tech conversions find that they detract from the Minis outstanding handling, and they end up having a hard time selling them. I like ideas like bluebox ( BMW motorcycle head on top of the A series ) or a supercharger or turbo. I think this type of large project saves the classic Minis best traits......it’s handling and lightness. Just my 2 cents. Darren.

The classic Mini/Vtec conversion might be a thing of the past. Looks like that Nissan lump just might fit. And who wouldn't mind an extra 250 HP?
