Rosebud!

The Hi Lo's on the Delta site are so damn pretty!

Have you ordered from them? How do you work around the language issue? Google translate?!

MiniMike1,

The name here is pronounced net-sker, from a pagan culture in Germany.

I bought this car from a state trooper here in Buffalo, NY.

The car is a MK1, external door hinges and all. It is also LHD.

Do you have contact info for Bob Fairbanks?!

Best,

Nate

Thanks RedRiley! This is the Japanese language site—can't seem to find the English version. Google translation isn't very helpful—it's actually produces some pretty funny results, but I think I found a workaround.

how do you pronounce your moniker?

Anyways post a few pix.  I think if you got it nearby, it might have belonged to Bob Fairbanks' wife.   Is it rhd? or lhd?  And does it have external door hinges?

I believe it's a MK 1 mini.  And if so, one day you might want to buy the sheetmetal fenders, front panel and bonnet and put it back to stock.

I'm on LI, not close, but if you're looking for a 1275, I've got one.

Does anyone have a web address for Delta? I use to have it, lost it, then Googled it only to find the Japanese language version. Now I can't seem to find anything, Japanese or otherwise.

Here's a pic of one of my Hi-Lo trumpets.  They are indeed Ripspeed

HI-LO is the Registered trade name for the Mini suspension adjusting devices designed and marketed by Keith Ripp of Ripspeed.  They're also FIA homologated (or at least were.  There are two versions.  The early ones used the previously mentioned allen key stuck down the guts for adjustment while the later ones adopted external machined faces which were compatible with a large spanner..thereby doing away with the need to drill holes in the body/subframe for the adjusters.

One thing often overlooked by many of the copiers is that the top lip of the genuine item is actually wider that the standard strut giving an increase in spring rate.

Delta is a high end Japanese maker of Mini bits.

Cheers, Ian

I did not know this. Makes sense. Mine are manufactured by Delta—springs & trumpets. They still needed shaving.

It is a Nomad. My nephew has a high-end rat rod shop in Ventura, CA [link]. He was kind enough to sort out some build issues with my Mini a while back. It was weird seeing "Rosebud" in the shop alongside cars that were as different from a tiny British micro race car as they could be. Some of her stablemates were gleaming with chrome with gazillion dollar paint jobs, others purposely rusty, but all were slammed to the ground. Nevertheless, the guys in the shop and visiting customers all thought "Rosebud" was cool.

My car returned from the shop a little too low. When one of my grandsons rolled a tennis ball under "Rosebud" and it got stuck, I decided to raise her up a bit.

Rosebud

Hi-Lo in their description is referring to the brand ( or name ) Hi-Lo.....which seems to get used now for all adjustable suspension sets for the classic MINI.

I have the original type, and it would indeed need cutting of the adjuster bit....not the trumpet itself .

The original type are adjusted with a long "allan" type wrench through the top at the front, or through a hole drilled in the the rear valance

I purchased my Hi-Lows about 8 years ago, so I don't know if they qualify as "old type," but they did indeed require machining to achieve the desired ride-height with 10" wheels and springs.

My ?? came from the description here- from 7ent;

C-STR687 Red Dot uprated rubber cone spring that will improve your Mini's handling without giving a harsher ride. This is due to re-profiling the cone to alter the spring rate. Fits front or rear. These are closer in profile to original Mk1/Mk2 rubber cones than the current standard replacements, which were redesigned to suit 12" wheel cars. Reccomended to be used with Hi-Los, as they will increase ride height.

If using these on 10" wheels with Hilos cut 3/4" off the end of the center threaded bolt of the old type Hilo (with a circlip) as it will bottom out on the cone spring face and the car will sit high. For extremely lowered cars the hilo face will also need machining a few mm
