Thanks, I appreciate the feed back. The Rails I bought were used from Ebay. So I do not have any templates, or instructions. I did some research online and through my dealership but received no concrete answers. All images that I have seen online either have the wind or the  rails. None that I have found have both. There is enough room on the roof for the rail and wing but the rails would have to be mounted closer to the front than they normally are. My concern was exactly that of the roof support rails. I did not know if the rails had to be mounted to the supports or not? I didn't want to have to tear apart my headliner and interior just to find out that it could not be secured correctly.

As Dan mentioned, the MINI has very specific locations for mounting the roof rails.  The rails should come with a template to help identify this location.

Since MINI sold models with roof rails, with and without spoilers, there shouldn't be any issues.

I don't know about new MINIs per se, but if you are talking about roof rails to receive roof racks, bins etc., some vehicles have specific locations to mount such things, probably because of roof panel reinforcements. Not following those instructions may result in roof deformation/dents once loaded.
