Which engine and year model do you have? All these nutball forum guys know a ton and can help you. If you have an R53, the answer is one thing. If you have a 970 S, the answer is different.

put the timing right and run a compression check, that will tell you if you bent something.
Mini's are like buses they come along in a bunch

omg...the valve stem might have bent, it's better to open and inspect your engine just to be on a safe side.

The tensioner on my timing chain broke and the exhaust cam in now one tooth off from the intake came. I'm wondering how tight the piston / valve clearances are, and if one tooth off is enough to cause me to pull the head off to inspect it, or if I should be safe just replacing the timing chain and realigning the cam.
