From the pictures, it looks like the guy set the body shell, minus floor onto a cut up MR2 chassis and body. Fiberglas nose burnt away.

It would have been an interesting concept to have a look at, but with that much fire damage, there's nothing Mini left worth salvaging and probably the same re the MR@ drivetrain. "No user serviceable parts inside" comes to mind. everything has been heat-treated, but not in a good way. Nonetheless, I feel for the owner/builder.

Too bad about that car. Wish it was closer to go have a look in person - but kinda thankful it's so far away from me. My garage has started to become "Shep's home for lost puppies - er - Minis as of late.
The wife LOVES it.

Not mine but too interesting not to share.

A recent structure fire claimed 5 vehicles including my mid-engine, rear wheel drive 1959 Austin Mini. The car started out as a 1988 Toyota MR2 Supercharged and after 20 years of engineering and construction it became the ultimate Mini... So the car burned at the very end of my journey to building it which has just crushed me. And while I think the car is worth rebuilding again I just do not have it in me to do so. So before the insurance company comes along and tows it away I thought I'd see if someone out there is interested in taking on the rebuild of the car. It weighted 1800lbs exactly when completed and with a supercharged, liquid intercooled Toyota 4AGZE motivating a car weighing 800lbs less then it was originally designed for, this thing just went like hell. SO FUN! I suspect the motor is fine as is the trans but everything else will need a complete rebuild. But it would be a fun project for those out there so inclined to have something this fast, unique and balanced. Imagine a 300hp Mini driving the correct wheels! I should have a clean CA title in my files (haven't looked yet) but it would be up to the new owner to figure out change of ownership since I obviously can't emission test the vehicle in it's current state. Buyer responsible for towing the vehicle away...
