Derwood congrats on you mini purchase! I am not a expert by any means but the photo drag and drop feature on the upper left works well for me. Photos need to be .jpg format, and they need to be no more than about 500k in size. If your photo's are from an Apple device they are the wrong format and will not work without converting. Photos are a big help on this site, especially when learning. I still need to learn the "link" process. Another great source of info here is the search/forum on the upper right for past topics, which probably covers uploading photos

Mike - yes, it’s great to join the tiny maritime Mini gang ! I definitely agree that there are very few left
here. I would go as far as to say that most of the few here are likely not originally Canadian cars as rust as
eaten most of those. 38 years since sold in Canada....that’s perspective! Thanks for the welcome. I plan to
participate in some car shows, so hopefully we can meet at one of them.
Mp850, thanks for welcoming me. Very cool that we both have 89’s ! I personally think that with classic Minis the body condition comes first. Of course I’ve seen pictures of some very rusty cars that have been worked over so well that they are like new in every way. I like turning a wrench , but although I’ve done a few
ameteur body jobs, I really don’t enjoy doing body work. I don’t even know how to weld. But with the aid of
a Haynes manual I’m pretty confident with most mechanical jobs, and I enjoy the satisfaction of doing a fix
myself. I also know when to turn a mechanical job over to a pro. Transmissions are an example of something
I would leave to a pro. But I might remove it and delver it to his shop.
Dan, that was a funny video. I didn’t mind being Cecil at all. But those bad guys had to have had a
highly modded Cooper S engine to stay with me like they did. Even after getting airborn like Rauno Aaltonen
those blighters caught me ! I’m not sure if you noticed or not, but the only thing about being Cecil that was
not pleasant was the crude dye job he had ! Little wonder the lovely put him off. I wear my grays with pride !
This has been a great welcome friends ?? ! Now I’d best get to work and start checking out your fellas
cars...

     Cheers mates,
      Darren.

Very cool.  I got a 1989 Mini from Japan last year.  I could not believe how rust free it was.  Will be nice to see your pictures.

Whee, Werewolf, Joltfreak , Dan, and Malsal, thank you very much for the congrats ! I appreciate it,
and im happy to have connected with such a great bunch. Appropriate time for some Brit slang ...
” I’m pretty chuffed about the whole thing !” Perhaps chuffed isn’t even slang, but I’ve tried anyway .
Dan , it has already occurred to me that I’ve entered a waiting game but I think I can handle it. In the
past I’ve had a TR7 ( 1980 ) convertible and a Miata ( 1990 ) that both went into winter storage each fall.
I also remember how it feels almost like I’m in a new car every spring when we take our cars out. Perhaps
that is just me, but I did experience it each time. I owned both cars for 6 years each, but I plan to never
sell the Mini. I’ll be storing it in my brothers garage for the rest of the winter, and because he is only about
5 km away from my place, I figure I can have a bit of fun just sitting in it pretending !!
One of my first additions is going to be a large diameter tach, with a large degree of swing. I’m actually planning to install one that is only slightly smaller than the centre speedo...one little project that I
can do while waiting for driving weather. BTW- the car has no Rokee or other wood dash, only the 3 gauge
binnacle and the air vents at each end. Because I like this style of dash , I will be placing the tach in front
of me, likely on the steering column, possibly on the dash panel ( prefer the column, but must see the
options before choosing between the two places.
Whee, I checked Kijiji and sure enough the seller has already removed the add. So the next thing for
me to learn about is how to post pictures ( if that is possible ) here on the forum. Any hints as to where to
search for instructions would be great ??. I have many pictures...probably 30+ , but perhaps 10 of them are
are good for display, with the remainder being under-body pics etc ( which are worth posting when showing
something under the bonnet etc ).
         Anyway, sorry for the rambling post. Thanks for the welcome friends. Best regards;
              Darren.

Excellent! Congratulations!

Of course you realize that its presence is going to make winter seem a lot longer.

Hello all. Just wanted to share my good news. Yesterday I bought my Mini ! When I had my very rusty mk2 back in 1980 , I sold it for parts and promised myself that I would own a good, solid, nice Mini some day. Well it took 38 years lol , but the purchase has been made. I bought a LHD Far East import with zero rust. It’s an 89 Mayfair in excellent condition. 1000cc , but it’s carbureted, so mods will be reasonable when I’m ready. It comes with a few goodies too. Hi-Lo suspension , adjustable Konis, real Mountny wood rimmed wheel, short shift etc. The car is in Lethbridge Alberta, but should be here ( PEI ; Eastern Canada ) in 2 to 3 weeks. Exciting times for this fella ! Cheers brothers and sisters, Derwood ( aka Darren )

PS- to view the car, it is on Kijiji , silver in colour, being sold at Longbridge Motors ( run buy a gentleman mechanic who is starting to specialize in classic minis. He’s even swapping out the seats with identical but excellent ones at no extra charge because the ones in it each have cigarette burns. 5 brand new tires is another nice little plus.
