Our covered most. I would include the steering rack boots; look over or replace. Track Rod ends?  And CV joint boots, should be new as you are replacing the CV joint. Depending on your engine size and your driving style, the drive shafts in the Cooper "S" are thicker.

It really depends on what you know now.

While the upright is the same, the outer CV, drive flange, rotor and hardware are different. You would want to change the wheel bearings from ball to roller bearings. The ball joints could be serviced at this time, keep in mind that they are serviceable and buying new parts is the same amount of work or more. I would remove the steering arm from the hub and carefully check the fasteners and dowels before refastening it with threadlocker.

I would change the rear wheel cylinders and the master cylinder at this time. If you have a desire for a servo, fit it now. Brake flex lines at all four corners would make sense to do now as well. Any original hard brake line that you may have concerns about should be replaced. The pressure limiting valve for the rear could be just fine, or not. It is 50 years old. It wouldn’t hurt to have a look inside. While 998s had spacers for the rear drums, the rear track is not the same as the S, so you might want to change that.

Is there play in the upper arm pivot bearings? Has the hydrolastic fluid been replaced lately? Have you fitted Special Tuning bump stops to the car and shock absorbers to the front? Lower arm bushings? You are going to be there messing about, so these changes, if they interest you, might as well be done now.

Your parts supplier should have full knowledge of these changes and probably has additional suggestions.

call MM and talk it over with them. They'll advise you on what you do and don't have to replace.

I'm thinking rotors, calipers and m/c, but a good time to renew the front hoses too.

Thinking to upgrade my mk1 998 cooper 7 in. brakes with 7 1/2 in.Have wet supp. and the rims are Dunlop.Is there any things I need to know when ordering and installing this new setup. Thanks
