I have received cars in containers (actually import 50 or so containers a year). measurements are standard, and on line. There are two tricks, after letting out a bunch of air.
1. Nail a 2x4 as a stop for the front wheels, and another behind the rear wheels.
2. Strap down the axle, frame or hook (Eyelet on the mini would work in the front), with the ratcheting straps.

I received an F550 in one. Had to climb over the hood and in through the window to get it out, as there was about 2 inches on each side. The truck was in the nose of the container with oil drums to fill it.

I also once imported (RoRo)a Mitsubishi Fuso truck with a Cherokee inside.

Still be careful when loading. When I shipped in containers with cars (twice) they never would ever give me true dimensions of the containers. Although I was dealing with 40' containers, they couldn't say if the 40' was inside dimensions or outside dimensions. As the corrugated doors are a couple of inches thick it could be critical. BTW, to protect the cars I put in the first container, I placed old used mattresses all around them for padding. Great idea until US Customs hammered me for not listing mattresses on my inventory and also alerted USDA that my mattresses may contain bugs. Container went into quarantine and had to be commercially fumigated. At the end of the ordeal it was very costly. Good luck whatever you do.

Actually as I answered, I just divided a little without numbers. I also need the Dauphine, so I have a total of 38.75 ft to ship.

Would be tough in a 20footer, l was told that unless all 4 wheels are on the floor , there is no insurance coverage

Please do not quote me on that but when we sent the two yellow pick ups to OZ , we had to go for a 40footer ( no 30 footers)

Also, l have never seen the Customs officials check out the engine as to date

If you put both of them in a 20' container you'll have to elevate one end of one of them in order to fit. The pickup is over 10' long and I imagine the Corvair is even longer.

Let's not start that rumor yet, but the pickup has always been built with the idea that it would be for my granddaughter, who just turned 12 and lives in Virginia. I've already taught her (and her twin brother) how to drive it.

Then could the body, without the doors and engine go into a 20' container with another full car, lets say my 1960 Corvair (that should not have any problems as it was made in USA)?

richard.. going to be tough getting into the USA.. CBP (US CUSTOMS) requires the cars / trucks have to be all OEM.  and no engine swaps.. and the doors will be real problem.. BUT  If I wanted to import this pick up. , I would pull the engine/ tranny and take the door OFF. and ship different ships and different bill of lading.. as motor vehicle parts.. box 2A on DOT or box 9. and then Box e for the EPA for..  you are welcome to call me and you can use my Customs broker and my import bond for FREE.. later bill cox

Since I see many members have experience with importing to the US, I'd like to throw out this question for comment:

Sometime in the next 3 to 4 years I want to take my 75 Morris Mini Pickup to the US. It was originally imported to Bolivia on May 20, 1975, and bought I it almost 7 years ago. As many may have followed, while it is still registered as a 75, the engine is a 92 SPI, and the front end, doors through front panel (& wiper motor), are 91. Dash is Mini Sport Walnut.

I would either be shipping it to Florida or Virginia.

What are the experiences with changed engines (still being Mini's), or the very noticeable doors with roll-up windows? Obviously, everything is older than 25 years.
