We passed through McKinlay, Queensland on our way south-east from Cloncurry to Winton, Longreach et al. on the Landsborough Hwy.  Population 6-12 depending.

A few photos of the Walkabout Creek Hotel, bar used in the movie...Crocodile Dundee was the 2nd highest grossing movie to Top Gun, when it was released...almost certainly the lowest cost movie made relative to the gross.  Like Mad Max that way.

Spitz...when I get to my other computer...Paul Hogan, Walkabout Creek Hotel...they moved it onto the 'highway' to get more tourists to stop.  The Bar used for the movie scenes is there intact (not part of the actual old hotel).

(yes I took my bowie style knife to Australia but never wore it as carrying weapons is a no no in OZ)

Wonderful! Next time in Australia I'll have to spend some time on the West side.

When I returned to Australia earlier this year, yes I took a Cooper head, spent time with Graham Russell in his works...and enjoyed a Mini reunion with our running mates on the One Lap & the Unfinished Business - Tasmania.

However, this year the main purpose of the trip was to cross The Kimberley of Western Australia via the Gibb River Road in a Toyota LC 100, the weapon of choice in the Outback.

One of my travel companions is a talented photographer,  Kayla has just put together this video on our time in Purnululu, The Bungle Bungle:
