as a teen, I learned what fuse my Austin America used: 35watt-17 continuous. It said so right on the fuses. Until I just read Chuck's link, I never realized that I should use a 17Amp equivalent. Having read the blown fuse and knowing that's what I needed, it's what I used as a replacement back in the 70's and onward. I wonder how many times over the years, I might have stuck a 30 W fuse in place for a repair. DOH!

Copy Chuck's link, type http: into the address bar then paste the link next to it.
If you click on it as it is, it comes up as a dangerous link and Firefox won't connect.

I'll try posting the link to see what happens...
www.mgtoronto.com/pdf/Tech/fuses.pdf
and
Link Test
EDIT: Both links didn't work. Sorry.... I had to try.
FWIW, I was always told to take the Lucas fuse rating, multiply by 0.6, then buy the closest fuse to that value.

The posting is dropping the http beginning. If I go to Edit the posting, the http shows, but goes away when I close. I tried moving the link over several spaces in the Edit process. Showed fine until I closed it. The http gets dropped, again as you can see.

Link didn't work for me.
If you have the same problem, try this one which worked for me. Edit - msg board is converting the link incorrectly, and I can't post a working one either!
Go to Cheleker's link, and change the https to http and it should work

Sometime, probably shortly after the dinosaurs disappeared, someone who knew a lot more about Minis than I did, told me not to use fuses in a Mini that I could buy at my local auto parts store, unless I knew the difference between British fuses and U.S. fuses. I've followed the advice ever since, but didn't give it any thought.
Recently, I had reason to question the advice and found this. You may find it interesting...and helpful.
EDIT: See next two posts before using the link.
