I met Hrach when I joined NEMO a dozen years ago.

He always added a lot of fun to our meetings.

I think I have a picture of his A-series BBQ around here somewhere.

I'm pretty sure they have Minis in Heaven!

To my dear friend Hrach, you will be sorely missed, your laughter, your knowledge, your wit. For those of you who never met him in person, you missed out on someone who was truely as classic as the Mini's we drive. I hope they have a Moke reserved for you in Heaven, Buddy! MM's won't be the same without you.

What incredibly sad news  he will be sorely missed.

For those of us who know just how much Mini stuff Hrach enjoyed collecting, I would love to know he is laid to rest in something the shape of a Cooper

Very sad news indeed.  I have always enjoyed seeing Hrach at the Mini Meets.  Glad I got to see him and spend some time with him at MME in Dayton.  I thought he had cheated death from several years ago when he had heart problems and the past few years when I saw him I thought he looked remarkably healthy.  Just goes to show you that we should enjoy life while we can.  Hrach truly enjoyed life.  I hope they bury him in his red jumpsuit laden with Mini patches...

Wow-terrible news.

I didn't know him very well, but met him @ MME Maine a couple yrs back and got talking with him a few times.  I recall a certain discussion (of sorts) we had about language and how he was going on and on about all the languages he knew.  Roman, Russian, Romanian...he seemed to know them all.  And something about the HISTORY of the language itself (I guess?)

Maybe someone could comment as to whether he was just filling me full of good natured BS or he really did know a bunch of different languages and dialects.

I don't recall the exact conversation word for word, but I think I asked him something like "what if you don't know the language and you are translating" and he replied something to the effect that "I just BS and make it up" ...

He had me laughing at the end of it in any case.

RIP

I'll never forget the poor girl that worked at the motel in Sevierville wanted to know what getting Moked meant. He showed her. She got that spirited ride around the motel parking lot. She got out screaming.

I am so sorry to hear this.  Hrach brought out the kid in everyone and the Mini was his way of doing this.  Because of him giving me a "sprited" ride in his Moke many years ago, I bought one of my own.  I will be driving my Mini later today in his memory.

We are surely poorer in the MiNi community for this loss.  Hrach, the ultimate MiNi guy!  Gatherings of mini owners will surely miss his enthusiasm and constant support.  I am deeply saddened by this.....

I am in Florida, open up my computer, only to hear this- BUMMER-A great guy, mind you a little wierd, let me correct that, super wierd-

I have a pic of him standing in a field in Magog Quebec in 2001 (?) in his bright yellow jump suit and matching pith helmut, always a show man-Or l remember him in Seveirville TN at MMEast, when he took the front desk girl from the Holiday Inn Xpress on a hair raising drive in his yellow moke-She was speechless-

Also a great tradesman as a jeweller, always crafted mini items in gold, even had a head board for his bed shaped as a mini -(mind you l never saw it) LOL-

One crazy Armenium, who will be missed !!!!!!!!!

Sad news indeed!  Hrach was a fixture at MME.  I will always remember his antics during the photo shoot. You could always count on Hrach running to the other side. I will have those memories in my photos.

RIP

This is very sad news.  I have always enjoyed Hrach's company at the meets.   He was a Pillar of the Mini community and we are all alot poorer today as a result of this loss.

I've just been contacted by Faith Lamprey of NEMO with some very sad news. Long time Mini/MINI enthusiast Hrach Chekijian suffered a stroke on Saturday because of a brain aneurism
and passed away yesterday (October 31).  Hrach was always the spirit behind
NEMO, a MINI salesman extraordinaire, a good friend to the Mini community, and a long time Mini Meet East fixture. Those who knew
him know of his obsession with Minis and his untiring enthusiasm for
everything Mini.  The entire Mini Community will miss him deeply.
