MINI Cooper Cabin Air Filter Installation


1st GENERATION MINIS
2002-2006 R50 MINI Cooper and R53 Cooper S Hardtop
2005-2008 R52 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Convertible


The Cabin Filter compartment  is located on the right side of the heater and air conditioning housing, under and behind the glove box.

MINIs with manual air conditioner have screws holding the cover in place - remove the screws and open the compartment.

MINIs with automatic air conditioner have plastic clips holding the cover in place.  Release the clips and open the compartment.

The Cabin Filter compartment  is located on the right side of the heater and air conditioning housing, under and behind the glove box.

You can access the cabin filter by releasing 2 clips on the cover as shown in the attached photo.  Use a small screwdriver to 'lift' the tabs - as shown by the white arrows.  Pull this cover down towards the floor and it will swivel down. 
Once open, you will see the end of the filter.  Notice that the filter slides into place - pull on the end of the filter and it will slide out.  To install, feed the new filter into the slots and gently push it all the way in.
