there was a time when the MG1100 engine/gearbox was the preferred CHEAP replacement for an 850 engine/gearbox.

1100s aren't so cheap anymore.

Of course, the final drive had to be changed because of the difference in tire diameter.

Hey Guys, was rebuilding a eng/trans unit and ran out of four syncro remote trans so i dug out one with a messed up idler gear bearing I wish i had taken a before photo cause it was really messed up requiring .020 off the face and a .100 sleeve to get the oval out from when the bearing finally disintegrated. afterward the gear spun freely and was probrably more inline than it was originally. I now have a extra flywheel housing modified and a pilot tool for doing this. It would take 3 to four hours depending on how extensive the damage. so on a limited basis i would consider doing for people here. I read about this in one of the editions of HTHYM. It is in some editions not in others.
