I was reading from the bottom and was going to say it can't be the gasket if it only leaks when it is running. But Chuck got there first. Anyway, I glad it was an easy fix. Now if I can just get my latest engine project running properly.

Whoa. Didn't see that one coming. Haven't they always told you to make sure your fluid nuts are tight? Good call, Chuck - it's almost like you've worked on these before. You've solved the mystery and restored zip's self confidence with two sentences. SE7EN

Does this mean that the leak was discovered to be elsewhere? I had leak from the pressure relief nut that I just could not stop, I finally found a copper compression type washer that fit, and stopped the leak. The old copper washer was just knackered. Terry If you're not on the edge............ you're taking up to much space.

Chuck, if I only lived closer to you.... What the hell, I've got plenty of frequent flyer miles. Prepare yourself to find a geekey, middle aged guy, that kinda looks like Ned Flanders on your doorstep ready to plant a big wet kiss right on your lips. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Zip Oh, and did I say thank you? Edit: In case anyone stumbles across this on a search, it was the oil pipe to block fitting.

That's a pretty stange place for a leak. Make sure it's not seeping down from a little higher: oil pipe to block fitting, pressure relief valve, oil pressure gauge or idiot light take off.

"...soiling that fresh interior..." I would've been happy with that... I mean it's only painted steel. Oil leak in the interior? Pah! Couple of handy-wipes and job done. I'll probably fire it one more time in the morning. Tightened the fasteners we could get to... one can only hope for the best.... Well that, and I figure at 7:00am it'll piss off the drunks across the street that are keeping me up right now... With no exhaust hung yet it is a little on the loud side. Sure does sound sweet though. I had a few folks suggest starting/running the lump out of the car. Shoulda, coulda, woulda... I always hate the days I get smarter....

Perspective, man, perspective! Like pocampousa, you could've had it coming out from behind the dash and soiling that fresh interior! At least it on the garage floor and not on Barbie's floor! I feel for ya' bro. And it's probably 90 degrees in your garage. Deep breaths .... take deep breaths. Start at 7AM when it's cool and it'll be out on the bench by 9AM, even if you stop for breakfast. I feel for you zip. I think I have the same issue on the other end of the engine. think the plate to block is leaking near the header. hope the gasket swells soon. I have already toen the complete engine down for the second time this week. and next week I am racing it.
If it breaks, Improve it !

What kind of sealer did you use on that gasket? Pigs have now flown. Miniguy is still selling cars.

Bob, No the cotter pin of doom is bone dry. This leak is coming from the side of the clutch housing case to transmission casing. To borrow the British term, I'm gutted. I'm pretty sure, to do this right, it's engine out time again. Well at least this time, I'll probably go out the top. I'll have back to back experience with both methods. Gonna take a shower, drink a few too many beers and sleep on it.

is the oil coming out the little hole in the clutch flywheel area at the bottom of the round area of the transfer case , if so it may be a leaking seal on the transfer gear . and is fixable in the car but better to remove the engine.

We just decided to leave the $&%# knuckle joint boot for a while. So we moved on to making vroom-vroom noises. It all began so well... Spin her up without plugs-got oil pressure... Stick my thumb in a plug hole-got compression... Hooked up a temporary fuel line-got fuel... Toss in the plugs, hook up the leads and, what the hell, let's see it she'll fire. As soon as I touched the choke, she fired right up. Sounds strong. Ran it for about 15 minutes and noticed some drips on the floor. We've got a pretty good leak where the clutch housing meets the transmission case lower right hand corner as you're facing the clutch end. Am I eff'ed? Engine out time? And, of course, this is the area I was responsible for sealing up...
