Leave it RHD. YOu're an adult, you ought to be able to drive right with it. Teens/new drivers not so much. In fact, my newest acquisition was a RHD crunched in a parking lot by a teen.
I believe more than one MOT member has a RHD car.

From what I am reading in these posts I will probably leave as RHD, I was under the impression it had to be changed but that is not correct. If it was to be done then I would do it myself, I enjoy working on the mini myself and there are very few jobs I wont attempt. I am no mechanic but can follow a Haynes guide and internet instructions and is one of the reasons I enjoy Mini ownership. Paul

Paul, are you going to do the conversion by yourself, or you have a mini mechanic here is SA? Quote: Originally Posted by Paul the Brit Thanks for the reply. The reason it is hard to get SA people together is that there are not as many of us as there are in Houston and Dallas and we just don't drop our tools and go drinkin' for any weak reason like those to the north and east.
Then, the last time they had one of their most recent meets, it was at a place I don't even think exists. And the traffic was gawd awful. And I drove a good distance to get there.
The next place was easier to find but must have been one of the top five most popular spots in San Antonio...on a Saturday evening. Even the fire department was there with a hook and ladder truck. We waited for 1/2 an hour to eat. I can't afford that with my wife. I fill 'er up before we leave so she won't order big, but drive a good distance, wait 1/2 an hour, plus cooking time and she's hungry.
Really, there is only a small handfull of us in SA and trying to get us all together at one time isn't easy. And there are a couple of guys who never come to these things. Doesn't mean we don't care.

Paul,
Most of the Texas "car show" season is now past. (We have a medium "show season" in the spring and a short one in the fall. Usually too hot in summer.) There are a few classic Mini owners in San Antonio and lots of new MINI owners. The new MINI owners sometimes get together for outings. The classic Mini group to join for keeping up on Texas happenings is MOT (www.MiniOwnersofTexas.org). We function mostly by an email list. Joining is easy and free - go to the website and scroll down the menu on the left to find the "join the email" link. Follow the directions, then post an email to mot@miniownersoftexas.org and introduce yourself. The DFW and Houston area folks in MOT sometimes get together for lunch or dinner on a weekend. The San Antonio folks have been rather lacking in doing so. Since I am temporarily back in San Antonio (although currently without a classic Mini), I may try again to get something started.

Three San Antonio MOT members are getting together tomorrow (Sat. 9th) at BJ's on north 281 at Stone Oak at 6 p.m. The fella who started this thread, a MINI owner (I think) and me (a Mini in parts).
The fella who started thread is bringing his Mini I guess...in 100 degree temp. Fortunately, he only lives a few miles north of BJ's. That's why we're meeting. To welcome him to MOT
There are a few other Mini owners in SA. One rarely surfaces (He helped co-found MOT) and another with two Minis (one for sale) and a third with a Mini convertible. There are a couple of other Mini owners who are not active at all and don't know we exist.
Opinions I express here do not reflect my
wife's.

Unfortunately most of the MOT members prefer communicating via emails. I personally prefer a forum. When you join post an email and introduce yourself and let us know who you are, where you're located and confess your love for Mini's. By the way your fiance might be interested in a New MINI forum. www.metroplexmini.com. I believe they have a San Antonio chapter. Mad Dog

Is there a forum some where on the MOT site? I have been to that before and couldn't find anything. I am already signed up. Also, I live in SA, but don't own a mini yet. My feonce' has an 06 mini though.

I'll be there in sha Allah. Probably can't swing the Friday arrival though. I will head South at around 4A Saturaday to put me there by 7A, family should follow in the support vehicle and arrive shortly thereafter. Then drive back on Sunday.

Quick Glad you came out and you are right it was a great little meet even if most of us didn't come out in our Mini's due to the heat. You and Hondini were the only brave souls to show up in Mini's even thou you were on fire when you came in the door. In late September we'll be getting together in Round Rock, TX for the All British Car Day event at Old Settler's Park. That's always a great weekend event and many of us make it a 3 day'er arriving on Friday. If you haven't made your reservations at the host hotel I suggest you do so ASAP. You don't want to miss this event. Mad Dog

I enjoyed our "meeting" last Sunday (the first tiem I've driven with another Mini for a lengthy period since I came to Texas, it felt good to follow Hondini down the DNT for a while), the food was good, the Women knew their place (they sat together in one corner and let the Men get own to the business of emptying beer bottles and telling long tales (please don't tell the lovely MOT Ladies that I said such a thing)

I have not had luck finding somebody in San Antonio, willing to show me how to tune up a mini. :( I wish the H book had a DVD that explain how to do it. Some good mini owner should put a video on you tube about mini maintenance.

You might also want to Fill-In your profile so we know who you are and where you're located. People tend to not respond if they don't know nothing about you. Mad Dog
