Aloha Latka!

Yes, I made contact with Tim West in Napili! Actually paid him and his beautiful wife and son and Mini a visit on our last recent trip to Maui, (I'll try to attach a photo I took of his car). John Mattham is another "Classic" Mini owner, with a MKI Moke and an early Mini Woody Estate. We unfortunately missed him last visit. Interesting you mentioning the gas prices over there. I presently live in Washington State, and the TESORO station at the bottom of our hill is selling Premium for $4.69.99!!! Besides the Hawaiian Isles, I think we have the most expensive gas in all the States??? It is rediculous, and it has always been more here! If you cross the bridge to Oregon, it is ten to fifteen cents cheaper a gallon! For me, Hawaii doesn't even figure in as far as the price of gas goes, because when you think about it, you can only drive so far in any given direction, (it's not like you are racking up 12,000 miles a year or anything). You're on an island for heaven sake! Your driving is going to be limited regardless of where you work, live, or take a trip. Most Mainland folks are too busy thinking about the gawd awful high cost of living over there!,(milk isn't $10 a gallon by the way. Costco has it for $4.89 a gal.!) Do as the 'Locales' do. They know where to go for a bargain, they hang loose, and they get by just fine. Back to the price of gas... Don't feel too down and out. I recently recieved an email from my friend in England, (we've been pen pals for 20 plus years), he said that petrol there is over $12.00US a gallon right now, and that it is being projected that it will reach $18.00US a gallon after the latest taxes are imposed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You gotta ask yourself, "Where would I drive my vehicle if gas were $18 a gallon???" The word is, that gas is going to reach $7.00 a gal. in the USA by 2009. We can only hope this will not be true. Take heart! Keep a stiff upper lip! Drive a Mini for heaven sake!                                Mini Estate

There are a couple of Mini folks over on Maui.  Their gas is already at $4.77 though compared to the $4.50 here in Honolulu.  Cool island.  Lots to see, and not as many people as O'ahu.

Greetings to you Mark H. my old Friend!!!

It's always a pleasure to cross paths with you! You always have interesting things to share, you and your Brother Jeff! Fine manners, good humour, and a kind smile! I would love to be at the Bellevue, WA., All British Field Meet, but alas, it is very difficult for me to commit to anything with the whirlwind of activity at this point in time. Thanks so much for the invite. If I do make it, it will probably be a last minute decision. Tell everyone Hi in SAMOA for me OK! Take care. Talk soon. Your Bud.  Rick T.aka/Mini Estate

Hey Rick!

Too bad to see you leaving the PNW!  But, we totally understand since you're going to HI.  Are you considering coming up for the ABFM in Bellevue this year?  Sure hope so, and hope you are all well.  Best regards,

Mark Hurston of SAMOA

What a sweet looking setup, Rick.  And what a story ... Moving to Maui!  Good luck with the sale.

P.S.  I'm putting the car cover to good use.  With little rain to speak of here, it's doing yeoman's work as a sunshade.

any mini enthusiast will pay more attention to the cars than the house and would probably like the cars to be included in the deal.

nice btw.

Greetings Fellow Mini/MINI Enthusiasts!

The garage that I am referring to, is the one that comes with the home that I just listed on the market. If a Mini/MINI owner buys my home, I will leave most of my Classic metal Mini signs, posters, a neon Mini light, a MINI cuckoo clock, a full size 135MPH speed limit sign, a checkered finish line flag, a British flag, a hard to come by Dealers MINI COOPER banner, (and I'll throw in a couple of more Mini/MINI related items that will be sure to please any enthusiast!!!) What I'm saying is, I will make it extra special for anyone who has a fondness for these little crumpets!!! Oh yes, and the garage/studio has been completely remodeled, complete with brand new automatic garage doors, track lighting, beautiful epoxy floors, new sheetrock t/out, attractive chrome utility shelving. It is the ultimate garage to pamper and fuss for hours and hours over your favorite Mini/MINI!!! (just ask my wife!) It will hold (2) Classics and (1) NEO or (4) Classics. There is also a brand new custom deck, and below it, next to the garage, is a new blacktop parking area which doubles as a carport, (I haven't tried it, but I'm sure (2) Mini Saloons would both fit under there bumper to bumper? Anyway, the theme is Mini/MINI's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The wife and I are moving from our Northwest Washington home here in Longview, (45 miles North of Portland, Oregon), to Maui, Hawaii, and the only things we are taking are our 1962 Austin Mini Countryman Woody Estate, and our 2004 MINI COOPER 'S'. Our space will be limited, and that's why I thought it would be pretty cool to offer one awesome garage with a Mini theme to one fortunate someone!!!!!!!!! So yeah, (and here comes the plug)..........Please visit this web site for a 'virtual tour' of our home!!!!!!! It's an extra nice place. Lots of big trees, privacy, quiet neighborhood, good location. Please check it out at:

You can also email me for photos of the garage at: minisrcheeky@hotmail.com

Thanks! Mini Estate
