Uhhh, I'm guessing the title suggests he wants a performance setup... I have had good success on track with 1/16 toe out Front with -1.5 camber and 5 degrees castor (toe out in front promotes sharp turn in) Rear toe in of 1/16 and 0 to -.5 degrees camber. If you don't have rear tracking brackets, you get 0 toe. I have not had ANY understeer problems with this setup. Of course, a lot depends on tyre pressures and damper settings, etc.

Does anyone do their own alignments?

my point exactly for asking about the source of the Dodd quote. Nobody addressing Mini performance handling would ever recommend rear toe-in. If safety is a concern, try zero rear toe

Keith Dodd article on Minispares.com dated 8 July 2006. I referenced this article for safety, not best high speed performance: per Keith, "toe out" on the rear is dangerous.
I autocross and track day my 1380cc 13" wheeled injected Mini on slicks. I just installed a supercharger and will be taking my first outing next weekend. My plan is start with this and adjust as required:
Toe: Front 0 to 1/16 Toe Out Rear 1/16 to 1/8 Toe In
Camber Front: 1.5 degrees negative Rear: Zero
Caster: 5 degrees

I would like to hear the explanation of how running tow in on the front would help torque steer. Rear drive cars usually run toe in as the drag on the front tires will pull the wheels from toe in to zero toe ideally. Front drive uses toe out for the same reason. The front wheels pull the car forward taking up the slop in the bushes and suspension reducing toe out to zero toe as you drive down the road. If you want to reduce torue steer, you need to run equal length drive shafts.

Nope; the front toe in decreases torque steer, which the vtec minis have in SPADES. ____________________________

Did you inadvertently swap the toe settings front/rear when posting Mintec info? Mini friends! Mini rides! Restored/modified Mini 1000 with 1380cc power unit, 2.95:1 FD, adj. suspension, S discs/drums, 10x5 Minilites, 165x70 A008s, custom trim and matching custom trailer.

I asked the guys at Minitec, and they suggested:
Front Toe - In: 0.125" total Camber - neg 0.5 degrees Caster - L: 4.75, R: 4.5
Back Toe - Out: 0.125" total Camber - neg 0.5 degrees
The alignment shop did as best they could for everything and came very close, but found that the rear toe settings were not that pliable. I'm using the KAD rear camber brackets, and they didn't allow for much adjustment at all; though it looked like they might. Maybe we were missing something?
Thanks for the input guys! If I find more control over the rear toe, I think setting it to toe in sounds like a good idea. This car is unruly enough as it is. ____________________________

Out of curiosity, what adjusts rear toe in/out? I have only seen the rear camber brackets.

When you have fast road, autocross, and race track experience under your belt, you will have learned on your own where to set your alignment, until then listen to the experts for your initial setup. What I gave you is a good place to start and was derived from Mini Expert, Keith Dodd's experience: "tracking on a Mini is Ultra important as it suffers from Bump Steer". "You should have toe in at the rear of at least 1/16" The car is less likely to suddenly oversteer when the throttle is lifted. You haven't lived until you experience Bump Steer at a high rate of speed

rear toe in only promotes understeer. Try zero rear toe or slightly( 1/8 inch total) toe out

Alignment numbers??? You want to align yourself in first place position. People are like slinkeys; they dont really serve a purpose but you cant help laughing when one falls down the stairs.

This has been a good place to start for me:
Toe: Front 0 to 1/16 Toe Out Rear 1/16 to 1/8 Toe In
Camber Front: 1.5 degrees negative Rear: Zero
Caster: 5 degrees

Do you have Hi-los too? Rubber or coil springs? Wheels & tires? Standard shocks or adjustable, lowered/shorter set? Front and or rear swaybar(s)? Waiting for the racers and serious Autocrossers to chime in with ideas. Mini friends! Mini rides! I'm getting the car aligned tomorrow; I've got adjustable rear camber brackets, and I've got a fully adjustable front setup. What would you guys recommend starting with for my alignment settings?
It has just come out of engine-swap hibernation.
Thanks in advance!
