If you felt real "pressure" build up and then released it then it was the compression stroke. If you just felt air leaving the spark plug hole then it could have been the exhaust stroke. If I read it correctly, you put your finger over the hole and felt pressure. If when you released your finger it reacted like a coke can when you open it then you did it correctly, but lazily as the correct way is to check the rockers. I'm lazy too because that's how I checked mine tonight when I set TDC.  dan

Well, I "solved" the blaster issue, I actually just had an air leak... BUT, in the process of testing it multiple times, without the condensator inline, I saturated the media... once I fixed the airleak, it blew for 1/2 a second, then jamed because the media was wet... tomorrow I'll empty out the media into a flat pan to dry and put fresh walnut into it...

In terms of the dizzy, maybe I'm just tired, but I picked exhaust as I thought the manual said... I felt pressure exiting the 1st plug socket from the Radiator at tdc, was that reverse what I should have done? the rest of what you said I'm certain will make sense tomorrow morning... right now I'm calling it a day!

Thanks!

Bart

Same problem I had with a 123. I installed the wires 180 deg out, normal #1 wire on #4 plug, normal #4 on plug #1 etc. I'm pretty sure I put the engine together right and I have the 123 in properly, so must be a 123 issue.

N0. 1 cyl is TDC twice. Once for compression. Once for exhaust. Which one did you pick? You need to watch the intake valve close. (second valve from rad end of motor) Then , the next TDC is TDC compression stroke where the dizzy should point to #1 cyl. (rotating the motor in a clockwise direction from radiator viewpoint)

Being in FL, are you sure your compressor isn't pushing condensation into the blaster and gumming the works?

Make it idiot proof, and someone will make a better idiot....

hmmph! The 65 morris mini is coming along so well, I decided to experiment with different settings on the 123 dizzy.... Marked the case for replacement, removed it, changed the setting to 7, to see how it would work, replaced it.... backfired... okay, removed it again, reset to 6, replaced it, now it backfires and also fails to run! removed the dizzy cap, & the blk wire, checked for static timing, green light on...

hmmph! opened up the access to the fly wheel, and removed plug 1... used a mirror &, at the same time, felt for pressure in cylinder 1... found the TDC combined with the presure puff in c-1... checked the dizzy, the rotor was pointed to cyc 4! 180 degrees off! okay... got it licked... removed the dizzy, re seated it so the rotor was on cyc 1.... checked the counter clockwise fireing sequence 1-3-4-2... okay... closed everything up, check to make certain all wires were connected...

started her up.... cranked, backfired, sputtered and caught! but backfired on low revs and died...

hmmmph!

Okay, what's next?

Frustrated in FL!

{PS... decided to take a break from it and media blast my alloy rims.... cannot get the pressure fed Maxus pressure blaster to work! NO PRESSURE out put, with 130 input! hmmph! Not my weekend!
