24° advanced ! Are you mental ?

8° or 10° advanced at 1500 rpm with the vacuum advance disconnected.

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

DIZZY IS 59D WHICH USES BLUE POINTS.

I set the timing around 12 degrees advanced and the car felt retarded, so we advanced it another 12 and it's now running hotter.

The engine was previously overheated due to lack of water. could this have caused a loss of power? Should I try a compression test next?

I set the plugs at 28-32 thou depending on coil.

Points are dependant on the type of dizzy - 45D & 59D sliding contacts is 57° ±5° - 45D fixed contacts is 51° ±5° - Ducellier is 57° ± 2½°.

Timing is dependant on engine compression, but is either 8° or 10° (+0° -2°) BTDC at 1500rpm with the vacuum advance disconnected.

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.
