Ok nothing worked. maybe i got it wrong. which post do i hook the cable to, and which spade do i need to jump???

I did one of these conversions, all I did and it works fine , was connect the big original feed cable from the original solinoid to the new starter solinoid and put a link between that terminal and the spade terminal on the new solenoid. dont change any of the wireing on the old solenoid at all, when you operate the key the old solenoid applys power to the new one and preingages the starter before spining it up. Not the proper way to do it but the easiest and it doesnt cause any probs.

If it has a built in solenoid, the spade is probably for the red/white wire from the ignition switch (that used to go to the solenoid). One of the lugs will be for the cable from the battery. The other one could be for a ground cable. Your old starter was internally grounded.

The car originly had a pre-verto starter and only had one + post. now the new starter has two posts and a spade. how do i hook it up?? thank you mark
