No, companion box lights were made of metal. Pretty simple in design.

If the companion box lights are plastic, I can make a mold and reproduce them. I would just need an original to make the master mold. I'm trying to put my car back together so I can enjoy the short summer with it, so I was putting this project on hold for another month, but this is at least the 5th time I've heard people mention wanting some of these items and I thought I'd say something. Is there a market for the rear companion box lights? Fairly simple in their construction. Maybe I should have some made? I have a couple sets of the original ones.

holy schnikes. Give me a month or two, and I'll buy one. I've got to believe that a little ambition and research, and any part on the minis could be remade. I often thought of contacting a plastics company for the center binnacle.

I'm molding the lamps too. I made all of the ones in the photo from some new old stock originals, and used the correct brass sheet material for the contacts. They are made from modern polymers that have been vacuum degassed and is cured in a pressure chamber to eliminate all bubbles and force the material into the corners. I got a little crazy and invested about $1000 in molding equipment and materials, but I plan on replicating other hard to find plastic parts as well. They come complete with an LED bulb. I'm not quite finished with my second set of molds, and this is a slow process, but it yeilds a 100% accurate reproduction, indistinguishable from the originals. In fact, if it weren't for the slight yellowing of the original lamp, I would have mixed them up by now. I have a few ready now for $50 each, and then they will go on Ebay as I mold them. SOne. I know. I have two in the CE I drove around the US in 06. Very nice. Just not the real thing! mini_r, yes, that's the one. Used ones can still be found if you look hard enough. The problem is that they are VERY brittle from age.

I just bought a repro MK I (3 gauge) binnacle on ebay. Very accurate. I have delt with the seller many time before. He knew someone who had 4 made up and he traded for two keeping one and selling the other one. I bought that.

I've gotten more than a little into Minis since my first thread, and I'm still a fan of only the Mk I Coopers and Cooper S models. That said, here's my list: -Lucas dip switch (unless this is it, scroll down to 347) -Single and double tank boot boards made with Cumulus Grey Veltone to reflect later Mk I changes (for concours gizmos) - Metal sliding window catches - Some of the knobs that are getting rare PS- Cheleker, Newton Commercial makes a replica recliner.

I wish the grey stripey fabric, as used in late 1970's 1275GTs and saloons (and MGBs), was available to buy by the yard so I could beautifully recover my seats. www.MinisUnlimited.co.uk

As you all know they do make the later center binnacle, the bare black plastic from BMC
I think, don't quote me on this, that there is someone here in the UK remaking the thin plastic MK! binnacles, they are on ebay from time to time.

Got to agree with the mk1 center binnacle, the one with the 4 screws in the front you can see on the face with L brackets behind.

Let's refine that. Mk I, 3-gauge, center binnacle. Non-moulded, early carpets out of the correct material. Correct early dome light assemblies.
