Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party
by Jerry (Siddhartha) Bradbury
What can transform a peaceful sylvan lawn in Gold Country into a carnival overnight? The annual Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party of course! Those who were there got to see first hand all the eye candy, but for those who were not, the Mini's ranged from an electric Moke to a VTEC powered Classic, to Randy Steven's tricked out CVT to Robert Holt’s Purple Haze convertible to three full on Mini race cars: my sprint car, Jacques Andres' enduro car and Eric and Colin Herricks's rally car, and many in between.

by Jerry (Siddhartha) Bradbury
My Mini has a new setup for this race. Speed parts from my sponsor Mini Mania have been added by my sponsor Bay Bridge Motors and USTCC sponsor Nitto has provided four brand new NT 01 tires. This will be my first official race with the US Touring Car Championship and I look forward to hitting the grid with more horsepower and quicker lap times.

MINI Clubman Review

Published: 21st April 2008
The new MINI was launched in 2001, to much acclaim. Although bigger than the original Mini, what it lacked in rear legroom, it made up for in unusual styling and a vast array of personalisation elements, much loved by a local estate agent.

The MINI Clubman has the same raft of options but its main benefit is the extra length, which should make rear passengers happier.

your right upon looking at diffrent end plates   some do not have a lip , so then i would recomend unless you know put the seal flush to the front. I use a very thin blue silicon wipe to help reduce oil seapage and I have had a seal pop out .

my housing does not have a lip to stop the seal. the first time I thougth there would be so I just kept tapping the seal in till I ended up having it in about 1/4", I looked at the other side and it was almost flush with the housing so I pulled it out to make it match.

It was oozing so little that it never dripped a drop. I was just getting annoyed at the fact that the housing was getting dirty from the oil/dirt mixture.

Wise words. I've changed four on three different cars recently and all of them needed new bushings.

Bushings up flush as mentioned.

I have always put them flush with the diff covers. Check the play in the diff cover bushings. If there is alot the new seals won't help much.

on my 97 mpi Im changing out the diff seals as mine have started oozing quite a bit. When I go to refit the new seals, how far in should they go? I couldnt tell if there was a ring which it would rest against or not. Should it be flush with the housing???

BTW getting the driveshafts off was a piece of cake with the help of that fancy tool
