I spent all my money on Saturday, so decided to take an early flight home this morning instead. I hope that a grand time was had by all!
It was great to meet some "familiar faces", or more accurately, to put faces to the "familiar" from here.
Being able to shop at a show with so many British used parts vendors was a true joy, I got to find many small parts that would have cost far more to buy new if I had not been able to find them. Mostly little fiddly bits that get lost or damaged during a rebuild, and would take forever to find in a show not so well focused on British stuff as this turned out to be.
Actually, there was little in the way of mini stuff, wasn't there? But lots of MG, which is what I was looking for this time.
Oh! and my biggest buy of the weekend was something I don't need, or can ever use, but it was just SO COOL that I had to buy it: the entire gage panel assembly from a Jaguar MkVIII/ IX. The fella selling it was right near the entrance from the car park and I was sure it would be gone by the end of the day, but, no, it was still there, and I just sort of talked myself into it. It is a real work of art, with huge Smiths Tach and Speedo, with smaller gages around and those lovely, clunky, '50s switches and levers that feel as though they were intended for a power plant, or a railway engine (or a fighter plane) when you operate them. I will keep this on display in my shop from now on!

Yep, it was a great time (even though they put the micros out beyond the Fieros and I had to walk a mile to see the Mini guys). Awesome t-shirts as well! Hugh was running late and couldn't make it yesterday, but he's headed up today to watch the autocross if any of you are still around... Bill

great turnout for Minis! It was great meeting everyone. I managed to kill the mighty 850 on my way home. Lost the head gasket(i think). The temp gauge suddenly spiked and I drove it anyway. The paint was literally boiling on the head and rocker covers.

You are correct... some "kit cars" are extremely interesting. The Beck Spyders are an awesome vehicle unto themselves... and there is somebody producing reasonably priced XK120 knockoffs with V8 power that are being prices in the mid-teens used.... and I still don't see why the Shay Model A's (which look and drive like a Model A but with hidden modern, reliable drivetrain and brakes) aren't worth more.. $10-12k buys a nice rumble seat roadster. Last year I had to actively talk myself out of a lower end Cobra replica... low tech but well done. 302/5sp/IRS basically "as new" and factory built... for $18k... Bill

I am flying up Saturday morning and out Sunday evening. So, elapsed time at the show will be "about one day".
This will be my first time, and I've heard that it is a mighty big show, so even if we know that others are coming we still might not run into each other.
I will be looking for the mini tent, to introduce myself in person and say 'hi' to whoever I can find, and mostly hanging around the Spridget area of the show (hopefully, since they are celebrating the 50th year of them there will be an "area" for them, rather than randomly spaced throughout the show). Because the Spridget part of the show (from reading what I can on the website) is really Sunday afternoon, Monday and Tuesday, I might miss a lot of stuff.
The kit car part of the show might be interesting too, though, apologies to any Laser17 fans out there, most kit cars look like "kit cars". Nonetheless, SOME of them are really neat (especially the few that are truly faithful replicas of interesting, real cars, like Porsche 550 spyders and Jaguar C and D types and stuff like that).

It's raining sideways here right now.. Saturday is usually the best day for this show. The weather still looks OK. Clouds and sun with a high of 68 predicted for tomorrow.

I am selling my G500 and will have that there... and my Lotus Esprit V8 (won't be there) and my expensive Moke project (not there either... and is sort of spoken for though I've yet to see any cash from the guy that wants it). Might even sell the Gipsy, but I need to rebuild the carb to get it running better first. Bill

Not looking too good for me. Sprained my left ankle last week, and I have a lot of work to catch up on tomorrow if I want to get there for Saturday. 7:45 pm now, I still have enough daylight to open another pool.......One less for tomorrow!

It's looking like Saturday will be the day for me. If Friday gets nice enough, I may take a run down (about 100 miles).

Just a heads up. It looks like Saturday would be the best day, weatherwise. They predict rain for Fri. and Sunday and only showers for Sat. in N.E. Pa. Im tempted to drive the 100 miles to Carlisle in the Mini but don't know whether to trust my 1964 (never rebuilt) wiper motor. Poconos

Heading up early Saturday morning and back that evening. You're welcome to stay here and head up with us if you like. (Heck you can drive my Mini up if you want to... Marianne is leaning more towards riding in the truck towing the Berkeley) Bill

It looks like I might make a run to the swap meet at Carlisle this weekend if my travel times work as I think they might. Who all is going, and what day(s) will you be there? Doubt if I will be doing much more than looking and visiting, but would love to get together with the other Mini guys.
