It failed on front brake hoses rubbing and steering ball joints worn as far as I remember but I can ask the last owner. The blue one was delivered in the front bucket of a back-hoe! So I don't know it's disposition. I'd hate to sell you something too cheap & have my conscience worry about your conscience - I'm sure you know what I mean! Let's be clear here gents: a 1968-1975 direct import MAY have problems. I have heard anecdotally of people having a difficult time at certain field offices getting post 68 direct import cars registered (but prevailing in the end), but have not heard of any cases yet of a total refusal to register a pre-'75 direct import (and the exempt model year according to statute is 75, not 74). Post '75 anything, and of course you're toast. The SAFEST course on any car bound for CA, direct import or already titled in another state, is to go '67 or earlier. Steve Life is driving Minis. Everything else is just waiting.

If the dollar ever returned to a normal rate (and its heading there) and things calmed down a bit in the economy I would not look past a chance to go back into business, Of course Alistair would get first crack at being the partner, I think we made a good team, Honestly though I have looked, not as hard as before but I have looked and have found not 1 cars since going out of business that I would buy to resell, Had I found one or two I might have bought them just for old times sake, I have to say the cars are just not out here in any quantity anymore, the local mini clubs cars are either too new or too "british" to be sellers in the USA, that is even if they were for sale.

As Martin is based in Idaho, would it not be appropriate to call it Mr Potatohead Motors? After all, the Mini was called the Mr Potatohead of cars!

Is 1985 old enough to register in ANY state in the US? I thought they needed to be 25 yrs for the US (minus CA of course). And Pete is right, the 75 would only be ok in CA if it already had a US registration. So as a direct import from UK to CA it is not registerable. If Martin registers it in Idaho then sells it on to someone in CA, it would be perfectly fine. Prez, Mini Owners of America, Los Angeles

OK you hot fudge sundae lovers, the red one is 1979 & the blue one is 1983 - just spoke to my sis & she verified that from the log books. Martin.

Isn't this akin to going to a fat peoples convention and asking if anyone is interested in a hot fudge sundae? I'm interested in Red based on finally delivered price. Martin "Curber Tick In Idaho" Greenbank ------------------ QuickSilversVille

75 won't be able to come into calif from the UK,, its 74 and thats only for state to state sales, Bring it in from the UK and you need to be pre 1968,
I know there are exceptions but its better to follow the law as they say as bringing it over to be refused entry would be an expensive exercise.

I have two 998cc Minis in the UK that I'm tentativley considering bringing over to Idaho.Cost of shipping will be $2K each plus another $?K purchase price (ready for the 50 year anniversary).Any interest/takers? One is 1975 (Red one, failed it's last MOT but runs OK) One is 1985 (Blue one, don't know if it runs but will have a friend have a go at it). Martin.
