What can transform a peaceful sylvan lawn in Gold Country into a carnival overnight? The annual Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party of course! Those who were there got to see first hand all the eye candy, but for those who were not, the Mini's ranged from an electric Moke to a VTEC powered Classic, to Randy Steven's tricked out CVT to Robert Holt’s Purple Haze convertible to three full on Mini race cars: my sprint car, Jacques Andres' enduro car and Eric and Colin Herricks's rally car, and many in between.

Race Report -USTCC

Infineon Raceway, April 11, 2008.

My Mini has a new setup for this race. Speed parts from my sponsor Mini Mania have been added by my sponsor Bay Bridge Motors and USTCC sponsor Nitto has provided four brand new NT 01 tires. This will be my first official race with the US Touring Car Championship and I look forward to hitting the grid with more horsepower and quicker lap times.

MINI Clubman Review

The new MINI was launched in 2001, to much acclaim. Although bigger than the original Mini, what it lacked in rear legroom, it made up for in unusual styling and a vast array of personalisation elements, much loved by a local estate agent.

The MINI Clubman has the same raft of options but its main benefit is the extra length, which should make rear passengers happier.

No,I sold the GTO to a guy called Alan Niven,who still has it. I gave £1050 for it and sold it for £800 a year later. It was a 1970, Deep Blue with Cragar Mags,Carter 4 barrel Carb,High Stall torque Converter and Air Bags to counter act the Torque on launch.Lovely car, but quick only in a straight line. Brakes were terrible and the cornering was akin to turning an oil tanker.Ironically,Alan got booked for speeding the first week he had it. Booked,doing a Minimum of 128 mph.

I bought a Pontiac GTO Ram Air IV from an American living in Scotland away back in 1980.Fast forward to 2007.I'm in a Motorcycle shop in Ft.Lauderdale talking to a salesman when this 10 year old kid asks me where I come from in Scotland.(I do have a STRONG accent)When I ask him if he knows Scotland,he tells me he was born there. He then shouts his Dad,who is also a Salesman and it's the guy I bought the Goat off 27 years before.

They keep telling me the world is getting smaller and smaller but it is still the same distance to my work as it was 10 years ago.

We just sold our last mini to a guy in PA, he is from the UK, from Colchester Essex UK, WHERE I LIVE!!!! Kinda coincedental.
