Cheleker - I don't doubt the HP claim - as commented, it isn't that much normally; it's the 240hp-ish figure mentioned. Some pics matt has posted in the past (one particually is the twisted laygear) is a failure I've never seen on a mini transmission before; although I'd like to try LOL.

this will do the trick, its what miniwillims is using, alternativly an lsd such as the tranX or quaife atb should take the power. http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=35941

how do you beef up a mini diff? fill it with mince? just kidding is there a kit ? would a higher ratio work to your advantage? People are like slinkeys; they dont really serve a purpose but you cant help laughing when one falls down the stairs.

Dynos can lie. But quarter mile times do not. And from what I recall on the turbominis site, his times are in line with his hp quote. Read the article about the 310 bhp from an A series engine. I remain skeptical. The gearbox weak spots are idler gear bearings (especially early ones) and differentials. Lots of careful building without going to real fancy parts will allow the gearbox itself to take more horses than the differential. If that's not beefed up, the rest is a waste of time.

310 bhp is the figure Mini Williams is putting through his !!
Straight cut gears don't make a jot of difference to change gearchange speed - that is down to the lever & the synchros. Most serious racers use a dog-box, which while having s/c gears is a totally different beastie. Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

the stright cut gears do not handle any more power we use then in racing to shift faster and to loose less power in the box, I have run 145 hp at 10.000 rpm through a standard box and it lived for ever, but it was carefuly built and had a oil shield and special oil feed to the layshaft. I would expect you can pass 120 hp at 7500 though any well built box .

Hello What Im wanting to know is what Break Horse power Can you put through a mini Gearbox with out it turning the box into a fruitbowl? (standerd aluminium one that fits under the motor) I would obviously want straight cut gears for anything over 110bhp? But how far past this will straight cut gears go? will the housing and the clutch fail befor the gears go? there is obviously a point at which tyres will squeel and clutches will slip and gear box will stay in tackt. (for this exercise the car will just be using stadard 6.5 or 7 inch wide 10" minilites on a good set of road tyres) People are like slinkeys; they dont really serve a purpose but you cant help laughing when one falls down the stairs.
