Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party
by Jerry (Siddhartha) Bradbury
What can transform a peaceful sylvan lawn in Gold Country into a carnival overnight? The annual Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party of course! Those who were there got to see first hand all the eye candy, but for those who were not, the Mini's ranged from an electric Moke to a VTEC powered Classic, to Randy Steven's tricked out CVT to Robert Holt’s Purple Haze convertible to three full on Mini race cars: my sprint car, Jacques Andres' enduro car and Eric and Colin Herricks's rally car, and many in between.

Race Report -USTCC

Infineon Raceway, April 11, 2008.
by Jerry (Siddhartha) Bradbury
My Mini has a new setup for this race. Speed parts from my sponsor Mini Mania have been added by my sponsor Bay Bridge Motors and USTCC sponsor Nitto has provided four brand new NT 01 tires. This will be my first official race with the US Touring Car Championship and I look forward to hitting the grid with more horsepower and quicker lap times.

MINI Clubman Review

Published: 21st April 2008
The new MINI was launched in 2001, to much acclaim. Although bigger than the original Mini, what it lacked in rear legroom, it made up for in unusual styling and a vast array of personalisation elements, much loved by a local estate agent.

The MINI Clubman has the same raft of options but its main benefit is the extra length, which should make rear passengers happier.

In 1979 my wife and I rented a mini in New Zealand and drove it/lived in it for 3 weeks.  A photo appeared in MiniWorld 45th anniversary issue page 108.

1970 Innocenti.  I bought it for very little and drove the hell out of it.  I sold it to a friend who was looking for a Mini.  I drove to Sacramento, Ca and bought it back yesterday.  I unloaded it when I got home and went for a blast in the foothills.  It was always the most comfortable of all the Minis I have had and the only one I missed.  It has a sweet running 998 and always ran cool in our hot Valley summers.  I am glad to have a second chance to own it.

I was okay until I drove a Mini.

Greetings from Cape Breton Mike! Your once favorite mini is for sure my fav as well.  Barney's doing very well.  I posted a message before I saw this thread.  Here's how it looks now.

My first.,....not a driver, but in some small ways, I still miss it.  I hope the guy in Cape Breton who bought it from me last fall gets it roadworthy !~

My first, a bone stock 998 that was primrose yellow dubbed "Rosie".  That torquey little thing would get 34 mpg all day and the only time it let me down was when the dizzy got drenched in a downpour when a passing semi splashed a tsunami up the grille.

Life is driving Minis.  Everything else is just waiting.

ah, I kinda hate to even think about it. I started with a RHD 850 in the late '60s, and that led to building a C-Sedan race car. Then there was a guy who worked at the newspaper where I was a photographer, and he drove a '66 1275S. When he retired in the mid-'70s he finally sold it to me. And when I moved from Kansas City to San Francisco in '77, I had to sell those three plus a running LHD 850 parts car, since I only had street parking. Hardly a day goes by that I don't think of that '66 S.

My brother's 1966 Mini Minor that I "owned" for about 18 months.  Something with the simpleness of the low back seats, bus steering wheel, magic wand, sliding windows, and 10 inch tires make it an unforgettable experience.

Is that the mini you got in trouble with, Neal?  You look good with a head full of hair!
