I don't know if I would rely on those radar signs. Every car I've driven by them reads low, even the new BINI and Dodge. Ditto on the bouncing needle too, I've got to lube that cable one of these days. dan

wannamini: I've actually had it for over 3 years, but in the UK...so to be more specific...first time in the States I've driven it to work which of course brings more smiles than overseas. My needle is steady at speed, but does require a tap on the binnacle occasionally to get the needle to initially move-just a characteristic I figure. Otherwise solid.

Awesome! In the summer I'll take mine to work once or twice a week in good weather. Our summers here are short, so it's a real treat. If I drove it every day, I'm not sure it would be as nice, quite honestly. The smiles from kids are priceless. Makes me feel great after being in the car for ~30 mins each way.(see my signature line) ~ 30 minutes in a Mini is more therapeutic than 3 sessions @ the shrink. ~ Mike NB, Canada

Sweet, How long have you had it? I have driven mine to work a few times and I haven't even had it a month yet. The most fun is the looks from people when I spin it around on the aprin of the driveway at work so I can go through the gate backwards to put my access card in. Have to leave the same way. I am geting the same mileage as you with about 85% city driving on a mildly modified 998. WANNAMINI (Jon)

On a good day my speedo may bounce up to 30 mph max even at 60 but the odo is just about spot on. "How can anything bigger be mini?"

What a hoot! More looks, smiles, and thumbs up than any other car I've owned. Purred right along the interstate/tollway at indicated 65 mph (actual ~60). I was very impressed. No coolant nor oil leaked after the ride of 32 miles each way! Side question: can the speedo indicate ~10% off, but the odometer be right on? I had the speedo backed up by both another vehicle and a radar sign showing the car fast compared to the actual speed (other car passing speeds confirmed this :-)), but today I know the work drive is darn close to 32 miles and darn it if the Mini showed 32 miles (my route varies next to little other than a lane change or so). If the odometer is accurate...I have gotten over 43 mpg during highway driving (stock 998 cc with 16,000 miles). Cheers!
