Yeah it could be the big 1st motion shaft bearing. Only way to find out is to split the motor from the trans. Good luck and let us know what you find out! I have a 78 Austin Mini that has a whining sound, only in 4th gear, and only really noticable when the motor is under load, (accel or decel). Any Idea where to start? Am I hearing a Bearing going out or a Gear gone bad. Any suggestions are much appreciated. D.
