Summer is just around the corner and that means it's time to mark your calendars to join us for our 7th Annual Nevada City Adventure Open House, Saturday May 17th, 8am to 4pm. Some of the events planned include a swap meet, car show, prizes, and of course, great deals on the latest and coolest merchandise! Also this year we will be featuring the first ever Vtec Encounter.
Things are still going strong in the planning department but it’s all coming together quite well for the Magical Mystery Mini Tour September 5-7, 2008...
Hey Andy, yeah I ordered an AutoMeter Tach yesterday. I had to order it from Summit as I no longer live in Calgary...... Penticton doesn't have a Mopac. I hope your move East works well for guys, our move further West has been really good for us. If you ever venture back this way look us up!
Yes, mur. I do however have one problem with the 123, now my Power Fist Tach is reading way higher than it should be. Do you think I should go back to points?
Terry
Terry, Take your POS power fist/princess auto tach, and chuck it in the garbage bin where it belongs! and go buy a real tach, the guys at Mopac will set you up with a good deal on an Autometer one...
Cheers, Andy
No other car makes everyone smile like a Mini does!
I have one and can't say that I completely understand which max advance setting to work with for a rebuilt motor different than the stock application chart. I comprehend that it is related to volumetric efficiency, but not sure how to evaluate volumetric efficiency. For example, would installing a stage 1 kit (intake and exhaust improvements) with an otherwise standard motor benefit from a non-standard advance curve?
My beef with it (as others have said before) is the adjustment is on the backside and the stainless steel body gets damned hot so removing it to change the curve setting is like playing hot potato(e).
I believe it may be a safety feature, though, so users are forced to retime it every time a different setting is selected. If it were simply under the cap, users may be tempted to just turn the setting and not recheck the timing.

Giit ye a scatttercaM lad. IIiiilll have ye know ye'illl be back to points in nooo time. There's naught better than a reeal Cooper S dizzy...
OK, enough lame impersonations. If it isn't pinging, then go more aggressive and see if it then pings. It isn't as though it would be hard for you to find a quiet hill to do some testing on.
Okay, I have it running....... but I can't find any info on my particular motor number. 12HE72 Metro HC, presently have the dial set at #8 - 32 degree family, but thinking I might need to dial it back a notch or two. No noticeable pinking and performing well. Using Flamethrower 3 Ohm Coil.
