What can transform a peaceful sylvan lawn in Gold Country into a carnival overnight? The annual Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party of course! Those who were there got to see first hand all the eye candy, but for those who were not, the Mini's ranged from an electric Moke to a VTEC powered Classic, to Randy Steven's tricked out CVT to Robert Holt’s Purple Haze convertible to three full on Mini race cars: my sprint car, Jacques Andres' enduro car and Eric and Colin Herricks's rally car, and many in between.

Race Report -USTCC

Infineon Raceway, April 11, 2008.

My Mini has a new setup for this race. Speed parts from my sponsor Mini Mania have been added by my sponsor Bay Bridge Motors and USTCC sponsor Nitto has provided four brand new NT 01 tires. This will be my first official race with the US Touring Car Championship and I look forward to hitting the grid with more horsepower and quicker lap times.

MINI Clubman Review

The new MINI was launched in 2001, to much acclaim. Although bigger than the original Mini, what it lacked in rear legroom, it made up for in unusual styling and a vast array of personalisation elements, much loved by a local estate agent.

The MINI Clubman has the same raft of options but its main benefit is the extra length, which should make rear passengers happier.

Hated?  Err, I guess that will work.  There wasn't a bolt rusted in place and the flanges on the manifolds were even the same thickness - exactly!  Grumble, grumble.  I think it took me longer to take off my brake drums the first time! 

Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel from coast to coast without seeing anything.

Exhausted!

Dean came over with his wonderful children and helped me install a new intake and exhaust on Tues. It went really smooth. I think he hated me by the end, as there was no fitment issues.  The only thing that went wrond is the little tube that goes from the bowl to the needle on my carb came out. The car still ran, as enough gas was getting in, but gas was pouring out of the hole. That was a quick fix, once we understood the mechanics of the thing. It is a little compression fitting that you have to take apart and put onto the tube then re place, not just stick the tube in and tighten it.

I think I may need to rejet, I'll see how it runs on the highway. 

He also learned the oddball language that my friend Erik and I speak, which is a combo of Fannish, and assorted names that my kids came up with for things.

Popped off the bonnet. Nothing was stuck! The header was held on with bronze nuts! Didn't bind up, and stays plenty tight. I'll retighten everything in a hundred Kms or so.
