I'm going to pass on it. I looked and find that I have three of them so will let someone else get a deal. Thought the last one I saw on eBay went for over $100.

John, It's actually available now. Ihatzi needed to make an event this weekend and Advanced happened to have a rebuilt 23d ready to go. My email is in my profile. Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel from coast to coast without seeing anything. Charles Kuralt Autox/Rallyx Videos

40819 - That's it. Thanks SP. Ihatzi, That's the number that gives the curve and application information (MkIII S - See Marcel's site for curve info, which probably changed some over the course of S production). It is a 23D4. You can use the side entry cap. Both the side-entry and 'normal' caps have the half-circle recess for the wiring to pass through. I use the normal cap, but have no need for being correct. Does the 40819 use the distributor cap with the half circle cut out along the edge that mates to the unit? I think later ones did not have this.

http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/twincam/tc304.htm and you will find that the MGA twin cam and the Lotus also used the 23D4 although the curve may not be the same as for the 'S.

Dean - at one time I thought our host offered a rebuild service on distributors. If ihatzi doesn't want it let me know.

I've got a 43819 (going from memory on the number) from a MkIII S. It needs a rebuild due to a bad shaft bushing. I'm sending my other 43819 off for a rebuild in the next week or two - same problem, but not as bad yet. There's a shop in MI that rebuilds/recurves Lucas dizzies for $99. You give the guy the specs on your engine and he gives you the curve you need - or as close as you can get without having the whole car on the machine, which I figure is closer than what most of us are running. www.advanceddistributors.com It's not a 123, but cheaper and original - if that's what you're going for. I'll say $50 + shipping as is or $150 + 1/2 shipping to MI and back and all on to NY. When I emailed the guy, I failed to ask about turnaround time. My email is in my profile if you're interested.
