Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party
by Jerry (Siddhartha) Bradbury
What can transform a peaceful sylvan lawn in Gold Country into a carnival overnight? The annual Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party of course! Those who were there got to see first hand all the eye candy, but for those who were not, the Mini's ranged from an electric Moke to a VTEC powered Classic, to Randy Steven's tricked out CVT to Robert Holt’s Purple Haze convertible to three full on Mini race cars: my sprint car, Jacques Andres' enduro car and Eric and Colin Herricks's rally car, and many in between.

by Jerry (Siddhartha) Bradbury
My Mini has a new setup for this race. Speed parts from my sponsor Mini Mania have been added by my sponsor Bay Bridge Motors and USTCC sponsor Nitto has provided four brand new NT 01 tires. This will be my first official race with the US Touring Car Championship and I look forward to hitting the grid with more horsepower and quicker lap times.

MINI Clubman Review

Published: 21st April 2008
The new MINI was launched in 2001, to much acclaim. Although bigger than the original Mini, what it lacked in rear legroom, it made up for in unusual styling and a vast array of personalisation elements, much loved by a local estate agent.

The MINI Clubman has the same raft of options but its main benefit is the extra length, which should make rear passengers happier.

I did some reasearch on this and bought ultralites. Apparantly many of the knockoffs suffer from peeling and flaking paint.

[IMHO] I don't think you can beat those S steelies and dog dish hub caps in your previous pics, those wheels look perfect on your car [/IMHO].

Wheels are one of those personal things. I don't care for the mini-light type wheel as I think they are overdone. I like the road less traveled so I found a set of Ronal wheels.

Mambas are the coolest wheels known to man. I almost had a set, but some sneaky guy in Seattle got them for a song, and I never bid. DOH! I really like the Dunlops too. My buddy Jeremy has a set. They look really nice and have an offset where you don't need flares. Cosmics are cool, but I think they look good on a 70s or 80s mini. They seem a little modern. I love my wheels due to the dish. I painted mine black because they looked toooooo shiny. I like the subtle center look. I'd post but I have 9 million pictures of my car here, and I don't want to look vain. Besides, minilight copies are everywhere. Another really cool look is the aluminum Cooper S steel wheel imitations. What a great idea that was. Maybe I'll dig up some pics and post them later.

You realize this is personal preference.  I use to run my magnesium minilites but it got to the point where everyone was running them, or some type of copy.  I have now purchased the D1 copies that you see on ebay for $400??.  They are a nice wheel for the money and not as common, yet.  At some point everyone will be running them so they will be less appealing.

I was wondering what you thought were the best wheels for the money?  MWS, Superlights, Minilights, D-1 ??? Just wondering what you had. Any pictures?
