Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party
by Jerry (Siddhartha) Bradbury
What can transform a peaceful sylvan lawn in Gold Country into a carnival overnight? The annual Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party of course! Those who were there got to see first hand all the eye candy, but for those who were not, the Mini's ranged from an electric Moke to a VTEC powered Classic, to Randy Steven's tricked out CVT to Robert Holt’s Purple Haze convertible to three full on Mini race cars: my sprint car, Jacques Andres' enduro car and Eric and Colin Herricks's rally car, and many in between.

MINI Clubman Review

Published: 21st April 2008
The new MINI was launched in 2001, to much acclaim. Although bigger than the original Mini, what it lacked in rear legroom, it made up for in unusual styling and a vast array of personalisation elements, much loved by a local estate agent.

The MINI Clubman has the same raft of options but its main benefit is the extra length, which should make rear passengers happier.

eh dont let the mp's get ya down i had a wrecked supra siting in my front yard on base and they couldent give me a proper defanition of wrecked, as it was able to drive just had a compressed frontend. they will give you enough space, just get it done quick, if worse comes to worse, get ahold of 2 other people and a wooden pallet, and toss the whole front subframe on it.

I just couldn't see replacing one piston, if you had the crank exposed and the head off. Take the time, spend the money, do it right so you can enjoy the car for years.

You should take photos of your progress to post on here. I always enjoy seeing photos of Minis being taken apart and put back together

Ok so I bought a mini 89 Mayfair, that smoked bad, and a cilender seemed to have no real comprestion, but I took the good with the bad and desided to strip it as its sub frame is better then mine.

No come to find out stripping a mini is super easy, 3 days shell is empty. But this was fun as I have never done this be for. And I do not have a motor puller or stand, Some body had the grate idea of just lifting the body off the front subframe.

This worked grate but once the stearing bars are not conected to the body, you loose all stabablitly of the wheels, so now I have a large chunk of motor and subframe in my parking space, and the Millitary police came yester day to tell me that I wasn't even alowed to change my tires on post, (I think I surpassed the tires) and that I needed to dispose of this NOW.

Well Not that I am so worried about them, but I do not want it just sitting out side, so I thought let me take it appart to carry it to the basement and reassemble it.

Well I took the head off and the first thing I noticed was 2 of the 1 inch rods "maybe these are the valves, I am learning so I will know the name later", looked like coroded bater turminals, all white, so I was admazed, (as I am new to the inside of a motor) I looked in at the pistons, and saw that one of the walls had a lot of rust on one side, looking at that pistons it was a Large chuck missing out of it, not a little but a Freaking large chuck. So it looks like this is an outstanding motor to learn on, I am going to have to figure out what pistons I need to order, (I wonder if I need to buy all 4 or if I just need to buy one) and how to "hone the hole".

I am just so exsited I bout such a outstanding motor is such and outstanding state, to beable to learn such outstanding things about this truly outstanding auto, "THE MINI".
