Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party
by Jerry (Siddhartha) Bradbury
What can transform a peaceful sylvan lawn in Gold Country into a carnival overnight? The annual Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party of course! Those who were there got to see first hand all the eye candy, but for those who were not, the Mini's ranged from an electric Moke to a VTEC powered Classic, to Randy Steven's tricked out CVT to Robert Holt’s Purple Haze convertible to three full on Mini race cars: my sprint car, Jacques Andres' enduro car and Eric and Colin Herricks's rally car, and many in between.

by Jerry (Siddhartha) Bradbury
My Mini has a new setup for this race. Speed parts from my sponsor Mini Mania have been added by my sponsor Bay Bridge Motors and USTCC sponsor Nitto has provided four brand new NT 01 tires. This will be my first official race with the US Touring Car Championship and I look forward to hitting the grid with more horsepower and quicker lap times.

MINI Clubman Review

Published: 21st April 2008
The new MINI was launched in 2001, to much acclaim. Although bigger than the original Mini, what it lacked in rear legroom, it made up for in unusual styling and a vast array of personalisation elements, much loved by a local estate agent.

The MINI Clubman has the same raft of options but its main benefit is the extra length, which should make rear passengers happier.

I did both sides.

My Mini's are un-officially sponsored by Coor's brewing company.

I found that thread and it did say to fill it until is runs out, but only on one side because the oil will make its way to the other side? I was just going to fill up both but now I'm thinking it might be too much oil?

Do a search on here going back a year, I remember this topic. It said to put the boot on then take an oil gun and stick the gun in the boot and fill it until it runs out. When I did mine, I stuck the gun in at the top of the small end of the boot and filled it until it ran out. Still good so far.

200ml is 6.8oz. (US ounces, not UK).

not much, but still its something.

The trick is to angle the vehicle to one side so you have one side open (on top) and the "down" side all closed up, then you can just pour it in, and have a dry time closing it up the rest of the way without any fluid running back out all over your hands.

DON'T do this angle with a jack, use jack stands!

I was wondering if they needed to be filled up or if a few squirts on the steering rack will do. 0.2 litres doesn't seem like much.

um, maybe I don't understand the question.

You already quoted the Haynes manual that says 0.2 litres.

About how much lubrication did you put in the gaiters? It doesn't seem like it needs much.

I used 80-90W in mine as it was what I had on hand.  Still turns the car...   dan

I'm going to be replacing my steering rack gaiters and was wondering which oil to use to refill the gaiters. If I read it right Haynes is saying to use SAE 90EP gear oil to refill the gaiters with 0.2 litre (.053 gallons US?). I wasn't sure which oil to buy but I have Valvoline 80W-90 gear oil. Any help would be great.
