Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party
by Jerry (Siddhartha) Bradbury
What can transform a peaceful sylvan lawn in Gold Country into a carnival overnight? The annual Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party of course! Those who were there got to see first hand all the eye candy, but for those who were not, the Mini's ranged from an electric Moke to a VTEC powered Classic, to Randy Steven's tricked out CVT to Robert Holt’s Purple Haze convertible to three full on Mini race cars: my sprint car, Jacques Andres' enduro car and Eric and Colin Herricks's rally car, and many in between.

Race Report -USTCC

Infineon Raceway, April 11, 2008.
by Jerry (Siddhartha) Bradbury
My Mini has a new setup for this race. Speed parts from my sponsor Mini Mania have been added by my sponsor Bay Bridge Motors and USTCC sponsor Nitto has provided four brand new NT 01 tires. This will be my first official race with the US Touring Car Championship and I look forward to hitting the grid with more horsepower and quicker lap times.

MINI Clubman Review

Published: 21st April 2008
The new MINI was launched in 2001, to much acclaim. Although bigger than the original Mini, what it lacked in rear legroom, it made up for in unusual styling and a vast array of personalisation elements, much loved by a local estate agent.

The MINI Clubman has the same raft of options but its main benefit is the extra length, which should make rear passengers happier.

Yep, that is my trick, I have always found that the most secure when the original clip no longer wants to play ball, a nice thread and nut works great. Peter

No more cars left, Westpaminis is now just a memory, Good luck to all those hard working dealers left out there, We can tell you its not easy. We have fully enjoyed meeting all the fine folks we have in the business.

Cup Cake and bluebox,

Thank you both very much.  I found that I had a 1/4-28 die in my toolbox.  I went ahead and cut threads onto the prop rod.  I then threaded a self-locking nut, washer, inserted into hood hole, washer, and another self-locking nut.  It fits very nicely.  I like the idea of the grommet though.  I may try to add that as well.

Thanks again,

Jeff

A MK3 uses a spring clip, that fits over both sides of the prop rod bracket and around the prop rod.It will cut into your new paint. When I made my S/S prop rod I used two quarter inch Aluminum pieces of round stock ,with a grub screw in each to hold the washers onto the prop rod, and up against both sides of the prop rod bracket. Won't cut your paint. cheers

Both my MkI's just use a washer and a cotter pin. I put body hole grommets in the bracket to keep them from flapping around.

Hello All,

Can someone please post a picture of how the prop rod is attached to the hood/bonnet?  I removed mine and had it powder coated, and now don't remember how it was originally attached.  Considering cutting some threads on it and double-nutting it.  That just doesn't sound right!!  Thanks for any help.

Jeff
