I have one in good shape from my mk1 - will fit your buddy's car. It has one small bend in the rear cross-member that can be hammered out, and will need blasting and painting / powder coating, but is completely solid, and no rust other than surface... E-mail me if you're interested. kilomonster at sbcglobal dot net Cheers, Aric Quote: Originally Posted by mark wilkins looking for a friend he snaped his rear sub frame as he was driving it home from the man he just bought it from he called the man and the man he just bought it from SAID SO this is his first mini .wish i hade one to just give him .... anyone have one willing to sell at a fair price and thanks |

I think he just bought the Mini. Mark said it was his friend's first Mini. From that I gathered that the seller of the Mini was very flippant when he was informed of the subframe's demise on the trip home. It is sad that there are some in this world that see the bottom line is how much profit they can make and who cares about being honest or reputable. Yes, he probably bought the car with no warrantee, but something that is that bad should have been pointed out by the seller if he was reputable. This is a perfect example of why anyone buying a car that they are unfamiliar with the marque, should do as much homework as possible up front. Ask questions of those that are seriously into the hobby and ask for help choosing the right car. SHAME on whoever took advantage of this guy!

I don't get it. The car owner acquired a used subframe that he recently installed but was so bad that it "snapped" the first time he drove the car? He needs to stick with new parts if he is installing used parts that are so far gone they break immediately. If he does not have experience or judgement enough to know what is safe and good enough to reuse, you could be putting him at risk by finding him another used one.

I wasn't referring to you Mark. My comments were directed at 6464. I know you were just trying to help out a friend. BTW, who was the seller of this Mini that has such great regards for his customer?

Stop giving Minis a bad rap??? WTF? Is asking for good used parts to fix a broken Mini somehow bad rap? Where are you from? Are you the clod that sold this fine Mini to the guy needing the subframe? Also, as far as used vs new subframes, there is a few good used subframes that come up for sale every now and then. Sorry I can't help, but maybe someone on here can.

Your friend should establish an account with Minimania and start fixing up his mini and stop giving minis a bad rap.

A used one, if it could be found, is probably more trouble than it is worth. With all the work involved in swapping subframes, you may as well put a new one in. 1981 Mini, 998cc , Stage 1
