I would Ebay it if I were you. Advertise it as original Lucas, correct alternator for restoration, etc and show it in the original bag/ box as well as out of it. A lot of people on the board have done conversions from other makes to get higher amps, so you have a limited customer base here who are privy to better solutions than what Lucas can provide. I did the Saturn conversion a few years ago myself. $15 for the alternator ($350 if bought from Saturn dealership) and I have 95 amps for all of my electricals. When I replaced my horrible Cooper 7" discs several years ago with 7.5" 'S' discs, I thought I would be lucky to give the Cooper discs away, and that may have been true had I only posted them for sale here on Minimania. However, I sold them on Ebay to someone who was restoring a Cooper and got about $40 less than what I payed for my Cooper S 7.5" brakes. Ebay is the way to go. "I drive a Mini. What are you compensating for?"

"clock it" refers to the relationship between the mounting bolt holes on the front and rear plates of the alternator. When a part is made for multiple cars (or is being transplanted... like a Saturn alternator in a Mini) it is sometimes necessary to remove the long bolts that pass through the alternator (front to rear) and reposition the front and rear plates relative to each other so the mounting holes are in the right location. The angular position (at parts stores and rebuilders) is called the "clock" position of the front plate relative to the rear. Doug L.
