Unless you are physically unable, you should learn how to change the oil and filter on your mini.  If I can teach my wife to do it (and I have) then anyone can.

Because an auto trans mini should ideally have its oil and filter changed every 1,500 miles or so (twice the 3K miles of a manual mini), paying someone do it every 1,500 miles will quickly send you to the poor house.  The other alternative is to connect with some local miniacs and have them do it in exchange for copious amounts of liquid refreshments.

Steve

You will learn more about Minis by driving one for 30 minutes than if you read every book written about them.

I wouldn't consider taking to someone for an oil change. You have to take out the grille to do it so I can see them charging you a ton of money. If you're going to own a Mini you will have to learn to do most of the work yourself.

Once you take out the grille just drain the oil and loosen the center bolt in the oil filter canister. Just remove the filter and install the new filter and  seal that comes with the filter. Make sure you replace the copper washer on the drain plug at the same time. Everything I have read says to replace the oil and filter every 1,000 miles. Todd

My Mini's are un-officially sponsored by Coor's brewing company.

A friend of mine had a son that worked at Taco Bell, knew NOTHING about cars, was not mechanically inclined, he went to work at a quick oil change place, I asked him how  ?!, and he said they gave him a 15 minute class, now he is a "trained technician", I would not trust any of the quicky places with a Mini, or anything else I drive,

Changing the oil & filter is not that difficult on an automatic, find a local shop that plays with British cars, You could contact the Mini club of northern Illinois for a lead, http://www.minisinil.com/main.php  and buy a few filters at a time, it will save you money on shipping vs. one at a time. and change your oil more frequently with an automatic, tons of info here, http://members.tripod.com/austin_america/id72.html    Such as,

  • It is possibly the only automatic in the world to run on engine oil.
  • It was far ahead of it's time and won the Queen's Award to Industry at the 1965 motor show.
  • It is considered the forerunner of the  modern "automatic/manual" transmission.
  • It is considered the first automatic fitted to a transverse mounted engine.
  • It is considered the first automatic fitted to a mass produced compact car.
  • There have been numerous upgraded versions of this transmission and it was still in production for use in the Mini and the Metro until 2001.
  • An internal auxiliary pump allows the vehicle to be tow started.

Do a search here for "oil filter" and you'll find a wealth of information on the 20 or so popular filters that fit the A series engine.   dan

Maybe, but I wouldn't take a Mini anywhere near a Jiffy Lube.

Can't tell from your profile where you are, but if you'd let people know where you are someone may be able to recommend a shop or a Mini club nearby that could help.

As the filter you are looking for goes into a canister and is made for that application (automatic) I doubt you will find a filter at your local autozone, walMart, etc.
