What can transform a peaceful sylvan lawn in Gold Country into a carnival overnight? The annual Mini Mania Open House and Lawn Party of course! Those who were there got to see first hand all the eye candy, but for those who were not, the Mini's ranged from an electric Moke to a VTEC powered Classic, to Randy Steven's tricked out CVT to Robert Holt’s Purple Haze convertible to three full on Mini race cars: my sprint car, Jacques Andres' enduro car and Eric and Colin Herricks's rally car, and many in between.

Race Report -USTCC

Infineon Raceway, April 11, 2008.

My Mini has a new setup for this race. Speed parts from my sponsor Mini Mania have been added by my sponsor Bay Bridge Motors and USTCC sponsor Nitto has provided four brand new NT 01 tires. This will be my first official race with the US Touring Car Championship and I look forward to hitting the grid with more horsepower and quicker lap times.

MINI Clubman Review

The new MINI was launched in 2001, to much acclaim. Although bigger than the original Mini, what it lacked in rear legroom, it made up for in unusual styling and a vast array of personalisation elements, much loved by a local estate agent.

The MINI Clubman has the same raft of options but its main benefit is the extra length, which should make rear passengers happier.

I looked the hotel up on tripadvisor and noticed that the bad reviews were three years ago. any recent reviews were good. Besides how much time do you spend in your room at a Mini Meet. Seeing as it is so close to Montreal we are encouraging all of our members to attend. Also the exchange is now around 10% so we won't feel it in our wallets. I would rather stay  at a lodge in the country than a Holiday Inn between two interstates.  See you in Maine.

Has anyone here stayed at the host hotel?  I have read lots of bad reviews-would like to hear any info. Sounds like there are not too many other choices. thanks, Eric

Dang.. I was planing on making that one as Main is not that far from CT, but alas my brother in-law is getting hitched in Newfoundland on the 5th next year Grrr.. I guess I will probably drive right by the place enroute to and from Newfoundland.

Darn - another year I'll miss. Seems that Taekwondo Nationals will again be 4th of July week in 2008 and 2009; 2008 in Madison, WI; 2009 in Ft Lauderdale, FL and both son and daughter will hopefully be competing. At this rate, I won't make it to a Mini Meet until both kids graduate or quit Taekwondo.

 Y'all have fun. I'll be thinkin' of you.

Mini Meet East 2008 Plans!

NEMO is hard at work to plan a great Mini Meet East 2008 for you!  The Meet will be held July 3-6, 2008.  lan to arrive on Wednesday, July 2 so you do not miss out on any of the fun we have planned!  The location will be the Jordon Grand Resort at Sunday River in Bethel, Maine.  For those of you who want to book your rooms at the Jordon Grand Resort now before they get grabbed up, the code is 84K3XN.  Call (800) 207-2365.  Standard Units are $79. One BR Suites are $99, 2BR Suites are $110, and 3BR Suites are $120.  (These are per unit, not per person.  A great rate!)  Just so you know their policy is to take 50% for a deposit and the rest 2 weeks prior to arrival.  It will be charged automatically to your credit card.
