This is the perfect time of the year to put the sun roof back & enjoy the fresh air. Then, in a few weeks, when the rest of the Mini owners are sweating, you can turn on the A/C & drive in comfort through the summer months. This is one of the prettiest Minis I've ever seen. I bought it right after it arrived from The Netherlands (lefthand drive) about 5 years ago. It was imported as a 1974, but it's probably about a 1993 + or -. It has a walnut (?) dash & black leather interior. (It looks & smells like leather, so I assume it's leather anyway.) It has an indash AM/FM/CD, power windows, & a power retractable top. Someone told me the power top, etc., makes it a British Open special edition. I can't confirm this. By the way I had it repainted in the same color & restriped about 3 or 4 years ago. It arrived with an 1100 cc engine. We bought a 1275 engine, bored it +0.020 (making it a 1293?), installed dished pistons, a Kent 286 cam, 1.5:1 roller lifters, dual 1.25" SUs, Verto clutch, electronic ignition, LCB manifold, etc. I have many pictures documenting the engine rebuild & installation that I will be happy to email to you. It already handled very well, but the new engine made it MUCH quicker. I recently added an electric fuel pump, replace the clutch slave cylinder, and added an adjustable stainless steel clutch pushrod. I quickly found out that in the Houston summers a Mini can become a sauna. So, I ordered an Astroair air conditioner from England & had it professionally installed. Now it's a comfortable year-round driver. This Mini has an almost new set of 5 Falken 165/60R12s on 5 Minilite-type wheels. The spare has never been on the ground. The brakes (roters, pads, drums, shoes, & rear cylinders) are almost new. The rear shocks are also almost new. If you're looking for a Mini with a very nice exterior & interior (& a cool A/C) that's more fun to drive than most people can handle, this is it. I have plenty of pictures of this car that I'll be happy to email to you. Or, you're welcome to have someone in the Houston area inspect it for you. |
