If you switched from run-flat tires to standard tires, here is the spare designed for your 2002 - 2008+ MINI Cooper and Cooper S. Beware of 'similar' space-saver tires from other brands since the hub diameter is most likely the wrong size. This 'space saver tire' set-up uses the factory spare wheel for guaranteed fitment.
Fits the 2002-2006 R50 MINI Cooper and R53 MINI Cooper S and the 2005-2008 R52 MINI Convertibles with standard brakes (non-JCW Sport Brakes). Also fits R56 MINI Cooper (non-S) and the R55 MINI Cooper CLUBMAN (non-S). See note below for JCW Sport Brakes, R56 Cooper S, and R55 Cooper S CLUBMAN.
Yes, you can buy the wheel from the dealer, tire from a tire shop and get it mounted and balanced - but why bother, we did all the work for you! Mounted, balanced, and ready-to-use. Tire brand will vary depending on supply.
NOTE:
For 2002 - 2006 R50/52/53 MINIs WITH the JCW Front Big Brake Upgrade (11.6" JCW rotors vs. 10.9" stock), or 2007+ R56 MINI Cooper S Hardtops (S only), or the 2008+ R55 Cooper S CLUBMAN, this spare will not fit the fronts. The alternative is to install the spare on the rears. (Lifting the MINI at the front jack points will raise the entire side of the car.)
Remember, this is a 'temporary' spare tire to get you directly home or directly to the nearest tire repair center. Get your flat fixed and back on your car AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. If you have the Limited Slip Differential option on your MINI, put the compact spare on the rear.
If your MINI did not come with tools to change a tire, see NMA7688.

NOTE: From the MINI owners manual:
Driving with the space-saver tire
Drive cautiously. Do not exceed a speed of 50mph/80kph.
You must expect changes in vehicle handling such as lower track stability during braking, longer braking distances and changes in self-steering properties when close to the handling limit. These effects are more pronounced when driving with winter tires.
Only one space-saver tire may be mounted at one time. Reinstall a wheel and tire of the original size as soon as possible.
Check the tire inflation pressure at the earliest opportunity and correct it if necessary. Replace the defective tire as soon as possible and have the new wheel/tire assembly balanced.
