New MINI Cooper Diesel

BMW MINI of Germany has now announced that the newest version of the MINI Diesel will now also be available in a “Cooper” version.

BMW which recently bought all the rights to the famous “Cooper” brand, have now decided to extends it’s values to a car category (diesels) know for economy rather than for the performance image it’s heritage brings to mind.

The diesel version of the MINI has been sold in most countries (Not USA) for a number of years. The 2007 diesel will not only have a new uprated motor in base form but will also be sold with the ‘high performance’ Cooper turbo-diesel enhancements. Under the bonnet lies the PSA Peugeot-Citroen 1.6-litre engine.

The MINI Cooper D has an average fuel economy of 64.2 MPG and produces 110bhp and 177lb/ft of torque. Acceleration is moderate at 9.9 seconds (62MPH) with a top speed of 121mph.
