Mini Cooper Performance Oversized Valve Set - R50/52/53 Cooper S
Oversized valves designed specifically for the extreme conditions in the MINI Cooper S supercharged motor. +0.5mm Intake and +1.5mm Exhaust valves allows the use of MINI Cooper factory seats and will outperform factory valves when matched to a properly ported head. Includes 8 Intake and 8 Exhaust valves.

Fits:

2002-2006 R50 MINI Cooper and R53 Cooper S Hatchback 2005-2008 R52 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Convertible

These valves do not require oversized valve seats.

The Intake valve has a +0.5mm oversize head made from high nickel alloy 21-4n material, deep stem undercut for higher flow rate, fully machined, swirl polished, close tolerance stem, QPQ black nitride finish provides higher surface harness with low friction for improved stem wear. Valve seat surface is harder with the nitride layer, resisting corrosion buildup and lasting longer with lead free fuels, alcohols, nitro or other "explosive" mixes. Backcut for improved flow.

The Exhaust valve has a +1.5mm oversize head made from inconel and carbon steel stem material, deep stem undercut for higher flow rate, fully machined, swirl polished, close tolerance stem, QPQ black nitride finish provides higher surface harness with low friction for improved stem wear. Valve seat surface is harder with the nitride layer, resisting corrosion buildup and lasting longer with lead free fuels, alcohols, nitro or other "explosive" mixes. Backcut for improved flow.

Check local regulations on conformity for street use.

Do I need to do a Valve Job?

Most motors will go at least 80,000 miles before "needing a valve job"! But what are the signs? How do I determine if I really need it? Do I do it myself or pay a local machine shop.
Cylinder head intake and exhaust valves

We offer the most complete selection in the country of original equipment and after market performance parts for the MINI aluminum cylinder head. The introduction of a cost effective alternative for stock valves compliments our existing range of performance and over-sized valves for both the first and second generation models of the MINI.

It is really un-nerving for me to think about all the conversations I have with people that think that simply installing a bigger camshaft, a smaller supercharger pulley, a high flow exhaust or a better intake will be “THE” answer to more performance. The over-used statement that the internal combustion engine is a simple ‘air pump’ never seems to get the point across. The Engine is really a complex number of components that MUST work together to produce the power to turn the crankshaft, that turns the transmission that turns the wheels that move the car. It is simplistic to think that simply changing one component without considering the rest will result in the optimum performance increase.

There is no single 'magic bullet' upgrade that will take your MINI to optimum horsepower, as all components are designed to work together to give the best performance. This technical paper explains what happens when an upgrade is installed on a stock cylinder head, and what changes you might want to make next to take maximum advantage of that extra boost.
