If you need a matching Draw Bar with a 1-7/8" ball, click here.

These trailer receiver hitches have all been certified by Test Link Services, Inc. using SAE J684 Department of Transportation testing standards to meet a tongue weight rating of 200 lbs and a maximum tow rating of 1400 lbs. (2000 lbs for F60 Countryman). Many states require the use of a SAE J684 certified hitch for hauling and towing. These trailer receiver hitches are the only commercially available certified trailer hitch for the Mini Cooper S with a 200 lb tongue weight and 1400 lb towing weight (2000 lbs for F60 Countryman)! Get the strongest hitch here!

This hidden Hitch is custom engineered to fit specific MINI models and is one of the only hitches on the market that is hidden behind the bumper yet accessible for easy use when needed. The actual hitch is accessed through a small square hole in the rear black lower plastic fascia that will need to be cut during installation. Includes a black plug to cover the hole when not in use.

This hidden Hitch is a heavy duty Steel assembly that mounts behind the plastic part of the MINI bumper and uses factory hardware and mounting location for a seamless and integrated look that is safe and secure and offers MINI owners the flexibility to haul, tow, attach or carry stuff they otherwise would never be able to. The hitch mounts between the large bumper support beam and the chassis.

Accessing the hitch to insert the hitch lock pin requires reaching behind/under the plastic trim of the bumper. The first few times it will be a bit challenging to work 'blind' but it will get easier.

Once installed, the hitch can be used to attach just about any off-the-shelf trailer, bike rack or luggage trays that have a 1-1/4" size connection. The vast majority of MINI drivers will use our hitch in conjunction with an aftermarket bike rack attachment (like Thule, Yakima, etc.). A 1-1/4" hitch connection is required and the post needs to be long enough to clear the bumper.

The average installation time for this hitch is 1.5 to 2 hours. Add another 1 to 1.5 hours for the wiring kit.

These products are drop-shipped directly from the manufacturer. Product usually ships in 1-2 weeks. Delivery times may vary depending on inventory.

FEATURES:

  • 1 1/4" Class I Receiver SAE J684 Certification – No other Cooper S receiver hitch on the market have this Certification!
  • Mounts concealed behind rear bumper
  • Powder coated black to resist rust
  • 200 lb maximum tongue weight
  • 1400 lb maximum towing capacity (2000 lb for F60 Countryman)
  • Packaged complete with installation instructions
  • Installs with ordinary hand tools

Question:
I have a 2019 MINI Cooper S hardtop. I’m looking to install a hitch to transport to 70 lb e-bikes. What should I get ??
Answer:
That trailer hitch would work well with ebikes. https://www.minimania.com/part/G3NMX6100/Mini-Cooper-Trailer-Hitch-Gen3-F56-F55-Hardtop-F57-Convertible
You would just need to make sure your rack was strong enough to carry 2 larger bikes. Our strongest rack only fits 66lb bikes, https://www.minimania.com/part/G3NMA1280/Mini-Cooper-Bike-Rack-Yakima-Onramp-1-1-4-Inch-Hitch-Mount

But in theory you could fit any hitch mount bike rack that was 1-1/4"

Question:
When installing this on my 2022 convertible S, more than just 1.5 inches of the rear grill would need to be cut out. the cut will go down into the colored bumper. Also, there is no clearance to put take the pin in or out. I don't think this product is adequate for the 2002 convertible S.
Answer:
The opening itself is 1.5" square since the receiver is positioned behind the bumper surface. The opening needs to be just big enough to allow the tongue to insert into the receiver. A plastic plug is provided to cover the opening when not in use. Having the hitch hidden from view is preferred over having it hanging below the bumper.
Accessing the hitch to insert the hitch lock pin requires reaching behind/under the plastic trim of the bumper and above the exhaust tips. The installation instruction will have a note about cutting and rolling the edge of the aluminum heat shield to allow for enough space to reach up behind the bumper to remove the hitch pin. The first few times it will be a bit challenging to work 'blind' but it will get easier.
This hitch may not be an 'ideal' solution, but it is unique, functional and it allows the use of many hitch mounted solutions.

Question:
I'm looking for a hitch bar for my 2023 MINI Cooper 4 door hatchback, I'm unsure which body it is.
Answer:
The hitch manufacturer says he is 99% certain the hitch for the 2022 model will fit the 2023 models. Here is the link:
https://www.minimania.com/part/G3NMX6100/Mini-Cooper-Trailer-Hitch-Gen3-F56-F55-Hardtop-F57-Convertible
There may be a 'slight' variation for the opening, but as long as the shop uses the actual hitch as a template, there should be no issues.
On the outside chance the hitch does not fit, we will offer you a full refund of the product as long as we receive the hitch in undamaged, as-new condition.

Question:
I need to know how much clearance there is when the hitch bar is installed according to directions as this may impact the bike rack or other hitch-mounted items I may order. A photo of the full-width hitch bar installed would be very helpful as well. How can I get this info?
Answer:
While we don't have any photos of the hitch installed without the bumper cover, there are no obstructions to the left or right of the hitch pin area behind the bumper.

Question:
I have your trailer hitch for a MINI R53 that worked great, but I've since sold that car, been driving something else; now likely to go back to a JCW F56 or possibly a GP3. Will stick a hitch back on mostly for bike rack and sometimes to tow my small boat. First question, I think you already told me - the R53 version you sold me I still have, I cannot modify it to use with F56 right? But the wiring should be the same? Second question - any reason why the hitch won't work with a GP? Third question - I used to find the hitch would get a little affected by exhaust, one of the drives is quite long (11 hours) - this is a non issue for the tow hitch right, just a bit warm nothing to worry about right? Look fwd to your answers....
Answer:
We have never tried to fit the R53 hitch onto the F56. I suspect they are different because:

Mounting points onto the chassis are probably different
Height of the receiver is probably different (vertical position)
The fore / aft position of the receiver may be different.

As for the wiring, here are the differences:

R53 wiring:

F56 wiring:

Question:
What is the depth (how far in) is the hole for the receiver pin? Considering my options for a rear carrier. How deep would the hole be from the edge of my fascia/bumper on an F56 JCW?
Answer:
Standard hitch pin depth is 2-1/2"
I am not sure about the JCW Bumper, but they sit about 3/4 of an inch behind the rear bumper on the S models, It's gotta be about that close for the JCW.

Question:
I have a 2015 New MINI Cooper F55 with working rear fog light. If this was installed, how would I be able to reinsert my fog light? Will the fog light assembly still have room to snap into its holder? Will I no longer be able to use the spare tire that is under my car.
Answer:
For models with the rear fog light, the hitch receiver is positioned far enough 'in' where you will be able to insert the fog light when the hitch is not in use.
Yes, the hitch will occupy the same space as the spare, so the spare will need to be carried inside the car.

Question:
JCW models: The models with the JCW bumpers have 2 versions available; the standard JCW and the JCW Pro. What’s the difference? I want a higher tongue weight than 200 lbs. 200 lbs may not be enough for 2 electric bikes & a bike rack. Or a rack to hold extra luggage.
Answer:
The 2 versions of the JCW bumper is purely cosmetic and only affects the hole position. There is no difference in tongue weight.
Unfortunately, the rating for the tongue weight is set by the hitch manufacturer and is a fixed value. There are no options for higher tongue weight.

Question:
Is the G3NMX6100 trailer hitch basically the same as the Hidden Hitch Receiver: F55/6/7 (MDM1009) made by MNIDoMore? I am concerned that there does not appear to be a place on the hitch itself to attach a trailer safety chain, except to a hitch plate bolted to the ball assembly. I am not sure that setup is OK in New York State. If it isn't, can a D-ring be welded to the hitch receiver or somewhere else on the hitch assembly itself that is easily reached? Or is there a place on the MINI frame itself that an attachment point could be welded. In the photo of the drawbar with the hitch plate attached, it appears as if the nut holding the hitch plate in place uses very little of the ball thread. It doesn't look to be very secure. Is the photo incorrect? Thanks for your prompt reply.
Answer:
Here is the manufacturer's response:

"Yes, if their state requires something specific there is space behind the bumper and along the crossbar of the main hitch body to have an extra loop welded on by a local shop. "

Question:
I have a 2019 New MINI Cooper S Convertible. I am looking for a bike rack to carry one bike - something easy to take on and off and was hoping to get some sort of trunk mount if they make one.
Answer:
The only solution we can offer is a hitch for your 2019 F57 Cooper S Convertible. Once the hitch is installed, you can use almost any of the hitch mounted bike rack for the 1-1/4" hitch receiver.
Trunk mount racks on a convertible are not common since there is nowhere to attach the upper straps.

Question:
Looking for a hitch for my JCW 2016 convertible. I believe I would need the light assembly and hitch. It has nothing and I wish to use it for a bike rack and rarely a small utility trailer.
Answer:
Here is the link for the hitch to fit the 2016 F57 JCW Convertible.

Note: The models with the JCW bumpers have 2 versions available; the standard JCW and the JCW Pro. In both cases, the hitch will come out in the same relative location to the exhaust tips which would be right in that black area on the JCW Pro and right below the part line on the standard JCW bumper where the trim panel meets the bumper part. Both will require cutting into the bumper or trim in that area IF this hitch is installed on a JCW F55/6/7 series MINI.

Question:
I'm looking for a way to transport 2 bikes. I do not have the factory rails. I prefer a roof-mounted option but I don't see anything that fits without the factory rails. Any options that use the rain gutters? Another option I see is adding the G3NMX6100 hitch and use a hitch-mounted carrier. I want to avoid the trunk-mounted style.
Answer:
We are not aware of any roof rack products compatible with a bare roof without the roof rails...

The G3NMX6100 hitch is the solution we recommend in these cases.

Question:
How does this fit on the car? Or does it? The receiver appears to sit exactly where the tail stop lights are located.
Answer:
If you have a rear center fog light, then the light module will need to be removed when the hitch is in use since they use the same opening. The light can be installed when the hitch is not in use.
